During a press briefing at the headquarter of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Abuja on Tuesday, the Director General of the agency; Mr. Sani Sidi calls out to well meaning Nigerians to donate more blood for the injured victims as the number of the injured victims had risen to 133 against 124 which it announced on Monday.He said;
He further revealed that one of the injured victims involved in the bomb blast died Tuesday morning , some were still in critical condition while others had been stabilised. He said;
“The casualty figure was 71 dead and 133 persons injured. A
report received from one of the hospitals this morning confirmed the
loss of one more life bringing the total to 72 deaths.”
“Our information desk is working 24 hours to
attend to any complaint and enquiries that family members will have
about their loved ones. Appropriate arrangement is also being made by
the hospitals and other relevant organisations for families of those
that lost their loved ones to claim their remains.
Sidi outlined the hospitals to include Asokoro General Hospital,
Maitama District Hospital, Wuse General Hospital, Garki Hospital,
National Hospital, Nyanya Hospital, Nigeria Customs Service Staff
Clinic, Abuja Clinic, Nasarawa State Medical Centre, and the Pan Raff
Hospital Nyanya.
He also noted that families could reach the agency by calling its
information desk on 09-290577, stressing that some victims had been
identified while some others were yet to be identified. He said;
“The families of the identified victims have been
contacted, but we have not been able to contact the families of those
that have not been identified.
“I call upon everyone to be extra-vigilant and report all suspicious
elements to security agencies and render maximum support to emergency
responders.”
