Man sues wife for giving birth to ugly children, Judge orders wife to pay $120,000

A certain middle aged man, Jian Feng recently sued his wife for giving birth to what he called an “incredibly ugly” girl.

“I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues,” he told the Irish Times.
“Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me.”

Initially Jian accused his wife of infidelity, because he knew he could never be the father of an unattractive child.

However, DNA tests proved that the child was indeed his. Feng’s wife then came clean and admitted she had about $100,000 worth of cosmetic surgery done in South Korea before they met.

Feng sued his wife on grounds of false pretenses, for not telling him the truth about the plastic surgery, and duping him into believing that she was beautiful. A judge agreed with Feng’s argument and ordered his wife to fork over $120,000.

So funny1!!

Devastating story of teen who watched her step-father murder her family

Tragic: On New Year's Day 2012, suicidal taxi driver, Michael Atherton (R), went on a destructive shooting spree in his family home killing partner Susan (C)On New Year’s Day 2012 suicidal taxi driver Michael Atherton went on a crazed shooting spree in his family home in Horden, County Durham, killing three women before pulling the trigger on himself.

Among the victims were his partner, Susan McGoldrick, her niece, Tanya Turnbull, and Tanya’s mother, Alison Turnbull.

Susan Goldrick was shot in front of her daughter Laura, then 19, who says: 'I really wanted to stay and like help me mam and hug her, but me body just took us and ran. Me and Tanya were running together.'

'He aimed at us both, but he got Tanya most and me just a little bit, because our blood is mixed in on the dining room wall, up the wall.'

Laura also described her stepfather's chilling obsession with his guns: 'When he was drunk, he used to go upstairs, and you could hear the gun cabinet open. It was an accident waiting to happen.'
Despite being investigated three years earlier when officers were told he'd threatened suicide, Atherton was allowed to keep six guns in the family home.

When Susan tried to leave Michael to start a new life, he embarked upon the horrific late-night killing spree inside the family home.
Laura survived only by escaping through a first-floor window and jumping to safety.

The story unfolds in a new TV documentary, which explores how the family members left behind following the horrific gun attack are still coming to terms with the events that took place.
It also follows their campaign to change gun licensing laws in the UK.

Speaking about the tragic event, which took place in Horden, county Durham, Dr Keri Nixon said: 'This is one of the most brutal murders I have come across.'

So where did it all begin?
In 1992 at the age of 27, Susan gave birth to daughter Laura, but her marriage broke down.
When Laura was three months old Susan met local bodybuilder, Michael Atherton.

But Susan's siblings had a bad feeling about him.

Susan's brother, Norman Hardman, said: 'He thought he was Mr. Perfect, and I said to my sisters you know there's just something not right. Cause I'd heard a few stories about him you know, going around, getting drunk, causing trouble.
'Something stood out because he was quiet and it was the way he used to look at people. He'd sort of have a stare when he looked at you.'

Forensic psychologist, Keri Nixon, who works with Merseyside Police in domestic homicide cases and has been looking into Atherton's profile for the documentary shed some light on this.
She explained: 'Body building was a major part of Atherton's life. He was obsessed with his image, he was obsessed with how big he was, he was obsessed with showing his body off at competing events.

'This helps us understand how narcissistic he was.'

Atherton and Susan's relationship became serious very quickly, and in 1994, Susan gave birth to their son, Michael Junior.
At this point, to the rest of the world, they appeared like a perfect family unit.

Susan's sister, Mavis Foster, said: 'The kids were all Susan's world. She was a brilliant mum. She'd do without anything if it meant getting for her kids.'
Daughter Laura said: 'She was very loving and caring, she loved her family so much, that's really all she lived for really, we were like the most important thing in her life.'

While Susan doted on the children, Atherton appeared disinterested, especially in his stepdaughter Laura, who never saw him as a father figure.

As Laura grew up, Atherton spent as little time as possible with her and Susan's family claim Atherton tried to cut off contact between Susan and those closest to her.
Behind closed doors he'd beat Susan black and blue.

He would drag her around by the hair, kick her and throw ornaments at her; she was forced to lie to those close to her and pretend she injured herself by walking into a wall.

Teenage daughter Laura was witness to some of the horrific assaults.
Recalling the dark times, she said: 'He'd laid in bed pretend to be asleep, let me mam fall asleep, and then he kicked her in the leg and then dragged her by her hair, threw her down the stairs.'
It transpired that Susan had been admitted to hospital seventeen times for injuries caused by Atherton.

On top of the domestic violence, there was an even greater threat to Susan. Atherton had taken up a new hobby: shooting.
Laura explained: 'He used to show them [his guns] to friends, which is a stupid thing to do, which we told him. It was an accident waiting to happen.

'There was something about his connection with the idea of having this power in his hands that really really enthralled him, and that should to many people have been a huge danger sign, you know a violent man, with issues, and violence with guns, it's not a healthy recipe.'

In 2008, Atherton showed just how dangerous he could be after an argument escalated between him and Laura and he threatened to shoot her.

'After that argument, he said "ah I'm gonna go upstairs and blow me head off", and I was thinking in my head, "please do it cause I absolutely hate you".

'Me mam phoned the police. When the police turn up, Atherton denied what happened. He pretended to be asleep on the bed and said that me mam was lying.'

The police confiscated Atherton's guns, but his license wasn't revoked, and a few months later the police returned the guns - a decision that had tragic consequences.

Police were called to the family home four times over alleged domestic violence from Atherton towards Susan, Atherton was cautioned for one of the assaults, but Susan stayed with him and refused to press charges.

On one of the occasions a police officer that attended the scene recorded that Susan was displaying classic symptoms of emotional abuse.

In 2011, Atherton pushed her one step too far.

Laura explained: 'He was drunk in the kitchen after being in the pub, I come in from uni about nine o'clock, and then he was shouting saying I'm a bitch and I'm evil, and then I was walking upstairs screaming and then he said come down here now I dare you, and I said what are you going to do, hit us like?
He raised his hand to Laura and that's where Susan stepped in, telling Atherton that the relationship was over.

Atherton moved out and Susan started thinking about the future, her children noted that they'd never seen her so happy.
A close friend of Susan's said: 'This woman was starting a new life, she was going be free of him, and that's what's just so terribly sad, at the point that she had the strength to stand up to him is the point which he took it all away. He knew it, he knew it was over this time, he knew that she was gone, and he couldn't face that.'

However, Atherton told Susan he had health problems and managed to persuade her into allowing him to stay at the house over Christmas.

'Susan was a really good woman, she was a really good mother and a really good partner, and in spite of all the aggression, all the attacks, all the horror, she still feels responsible towards him,' said a family member.

But as far as Atherton was concerned, if she was going to live without him, then she wasn't going to live at all.
Surrounded by her family, Atherton realised he couldn't control 47-year-old Susan, and it tipped him over the edge. On New Year's Day, he loaded his gun and began shooting.

Laura recalls: 'And then that's when he come in and shot me mam in the back. Practically point blank range in the back.'
In our prayers: 'There's never a minute of the day goes past without thinking of them', said Laura
In our prayers: 'There's never a minute of the day goes past without thinking of them', said Laura

Laura was injured from the shrapnel but managed to escape out of the bedroom window into next door's balcony.
After shooting Susan's sister Alison, 42, in a final insult, Atherton shot her daughter Tanya, 24, for a second time in front of her.

Dr Keri Nixon believes Atherton planned to kill himself after the murders.
'He's not the kind of man that was going be in prison, that was the ultimate control. He controlled what happened to him as well, by shooting himself.'

In March 2013, an inquest into the murders revealed the extent of the domestic violence and uncovered the failing of Durham constabulary, which enabled Atherton to hold a fire arms license and commit those horrendous crimes.

Speaking in the aftermath of the terrible atrocity, Laura said: 'I just want her back. I can't believe I've been robbed of me mam, me sister, me aunty.

Strike: Ex-ASUU leader, Iyayi, killed in gov’s convoy crash

Former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Festus Iyayi, yesterday died in an auto crash involving the convoy of Kogi State Governor Idris Wada along Lokoja-Abuja Road.

Iyayi and other members of ASUU, University of Benin branch, were on their way to Kano for a meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the union scheduled to hold today. The meeting is to enable the NEC receive reports of the congresses that held “simultaneously” in the universities across the country.
The accident occurred about noon at Banda village near Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, when an escort car in the convoy of the governor had a head-on collision with the bus in which Prof. Iyayi and the other members of ASUU were travelling.

Eyewitnesses told National Mirror that the ASUU team was travelling to Kano in a Toyota bus with registration number ED 357 ASL.
The remains of the late professor were said to have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, in Lokoja, while other injured victims, including the driver of the convoy’s Hilux pick-up van, were taken to the same hospital for medical attention.

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Olakunle Motajo, who confirmed the accident, said preliminary investigation revealed that there was wrongful overtaking on the part of the governor’s vehicle. Wada later visited the emergency unit of the hospital to commiserate with the victims and also at the mortuary to see the remains of Iyayi.

The governor, who was shocked over the incident, however, told the management of the hospital to give the injured the best treatment. In a statement later, the state government confirmed that an escort vehicle in the convoy of the governor was involved in a fatal accident at Banda Village, while the governor was returning from an official engagement in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The statement, signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi, stated that the convoy was on a speed of 80 kilometres per hour when a bus collided with the escort van. “Sadly, in the storm, it was discovered that a renowned academic and respected human rights advocate, Prof. Festus Iyayi, who was in the other vehicle died in the accident.

There were other victims with varying degree of injuries from both sides,” the statement said. Born in 1947 in Ugbegun, Ishan in Edo, late Iyayi obtained a Masters Degree in Industrial Economics from the Kiev Institute of Economics in the former U.S.S.R.

He became a lecturer in 1980 at the Department of Business Administration, University of Benin. Iyayi, who was the ASUU president in 1986, was also a known author with four books to his credit. The late unionist won the Commonwealth Prize for Literature for one of his books “Heroes” in 1988.
The title of other books to his credit are: “Violence”, “The Contract” and “Awaiting Court Martial.”

Meanwhile, reactions have been pouring in on the death of Iyayi. President Goodluck Jonathan expressed sadness over the death of the former ASUU president.
A statement issued yesterday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, commiserated with the leadership and members of ASUU on the tragic death. Jonathan also expressed condolences to Iyayi’s family, his colleagues, friends and associates.

Senate President David Mark also lamented the death of the frontline academic. Mark noted the giant strides of the university scholar, which had brought international fame and value to the nation.

He regretted that Iyayi was one of the leaders of ASUU dialoguing with the Federal Government on how to resolve the lingering strike by university teachers. Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan also expressed deep shock at the sudden death of Iyayi and called on players in the education sector, including the Federal Government and striking lecturers, to rededicate themselves to the pursuit of excellence at the tertiary level in honour of the deceased.
The governor in a statement by his Press Secretary, Felix Ofou, said the highest honour that the late Iyayi deserved was the return to the pursuit of academic excellence in our universities and other higher institutions. ASUU also mourned the death of its former President.

The President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge, said: “The sad news was broken to the union in the morning of November 12. I cannot say anything right now. We have just lost one of our own, Festus Iyayi, who was very dear to us.

I am mourning.” The immediate past President of the union, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, said the news came to him as a rude shock and was still in doubt if it was true. Awuzie, now the Vice- Chancellor, Imo State University, said: “I know the NEC executives of the union should be on their way to Kano, but I am still expecting the details of the death.

“Until I get full details on the circumstances of his death, I might not be able to say much,” Awuzie said. Prof. Ahunna Okerengwo, the Chairman, University of Port- Harcourt chapter of ASUU, says the death of Iyayi on Tuesday was shocking. Prof. Damian Opata, the Head, Department of English, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said Iyayi’s death was unfortunate. “It is very sad coming at this time,” he said.

The Kano meeting is to deliberate on whether to call off the strike as the NEC receives reports of the congresses that held “simultaneously” in all the universities across the country. Local chapters of ASUU had held their congresses on Monday to vote on the suspension or otherwise.

The said agreement, which necessitated the subsisting July 1 action, required that the Federal Government will, within a period of five years, release more than N1trn, to bridge the noticeable infrastructural deficits in the nation’s ivory towers. Also, the Federal Government would have released N92bn, for what the union christened, “earned allowance.”

However, ASUU seems to have a moral burden now as the Federal Government said it had released over N30bn as part of the contentious earned allowance. Last week’s meeting of the Fagge-led ASUU with President Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, prompted positive steps by ASUU towards ending the strike.

At the meeting, President Jonathan was said to have pledged government’s readiness to release N220bn in next year’s budget and in subsequent appropriations.

Already, chairmen of local chapters of ASUU are converging on Kano, preparatory to the meeting, from where a positive resolution is being expected. Chairman of one of the federal universities in the South-South, who did not want his name mentioned, said the strike “may be suspended on Saturday.”

“Many of the chapters are disposed to ending this strike, which has cost us all a full semester. “As I speak with you, we (chairmen) are on our way to Kano for NEC meeting tomorrow (today).” Asked if the strike would be suspended, he said: “I think so, judging by reports from the Monday congresses we held simultaneously. We may suspend the strike on Saturday or Sunday.”

He, however, admonished government to ensure that it honoured its promise so as not to return the university system to this “sorry past”. This, of course, formed the basis for the Monday congresses and today’s “decider” NEC meeting.

Meanwhile, the University of Jos, UNIJOS, chapter of the union explained its support for the continuation of the ongoing strike. After considering the outcome of the meeting which the union’s national body had with President Jonathan, members of the branch had last Monday voted in favour of the continuation of the fourmonth- old strike.

The UNIJOS branch of ASUU said the meeting with the President achieved nothing, a position which had also been condemned by some stakeholders The Branch Chairman, Dr. David Jangkham, said yesterday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, that his members were compelled to take the stand because of the government’s insensitivity to their plight.

21 year-old Young mother stabbed her boyfriend for going out and not ringing in every two hours then casually lit up a cigarette as he lay on the floor fighting for life

On trial: Rhiann Burnie leaving Burnley Crown Court, which heard she stabbed and battered her boyfriend Shane McMullen after he went out for the night
A 'sinister' young mother stabbed and battered her boyfriend because he failed to call her every two hours on a night out, leaving him so badly injured paramedics believed he was dead, a court heard yesterday.
Rhiann Burnie, 21, punched bricklayer Shane McMullen, 23, then knifed him in the shoulder before lighting up a cigarette and mopping up blood as he lay on the floor clinging to life, the jury at Burnley Crown Court was told.

The prosecution claim she flew into a rage about him going to an engagement party and leaving her at home with her two-year-old daughter.

Despite the wound severing a major artery and causing significant blood loss, Mr McMullen survived but has suffered memory loss and has nightmares of being stabbed again.

A jury was told he had been attacked simply because he forgot to ring her 'every couple of hours' as she demanded.
Burnley Crown Court was told the couple had been in a relationship for a year and initially was 'happy and healthy' yet a 'darker more sinister side' of Burnie's character emerged, said Miss Rachel Woods, prosecuting.

Burnie had on two previous occasions turned on him with a knife with Mr McMullen having to wrestle them off her, it is alleged.
She had also smashed doors and furniture during heated arguments and had revealed she had been advised to attend anger management courses.

Miss Woods added: 'She revealed a different side of her character, a volatile side, an aggressive side, an unpredictable side where she would lose her temper and damage the property and furniture, doors, in a fit of rage.

'No sooner would she blow up she would calm down. In flashes of temper the knife would come out and then matters would calm down - Mr McMullen had little realisation what lay ahead.'

Mr McMullen saw the previous threats as empty and never thought she was capable of using a knife. He would often leave the house to let her cool down.

But the stabbing occurred in April after Mr McMullen was invited to the party at Burnley Football Club's Turf Moor ground in Lancashire.

Miss Woods added: 'It is quite apparent that she was very keen to know exactly what he was up to that evening. She had ran out of credit on her own mobile phone and so she kept his so that they could continue contact throughout the evening.
Accused: Burnie walks from court, which heard Mr McMullen suffered the life threatening injuries because he hadn't called her 'every couple of hours' like she had wanted

'He telephoned her and spoke to her before he went to the party not causing any difficulty at that stage. He made the error of not keeping in contact with the defendant.'

The court heard Mr McMullen arrived at Burnie's home in Burnley after the function and she was said to be 'not best pleased'. She was so annoyed she punched him in the face fracturing his nose and leaving him with a black eye.

She then went to the pub and continued drinking at a friend's house before returning home at around 3am.
On arriving back she taunt Mr McMullen telling him that she had been with another man. He got up and dressed before making an attempt to leave.

But as he did so Burnie took the kitchen knife and attacked him in a 'fit of rage, or jealousy, or control,' added Miss Woods. Mr McMullen staggered into the backyard where he was found in the backyard with a blood soaked shirt.

Police arrested Burnie but she initially claimed her boyfriend had come home injured, before suggesting there must have been an intruder at the house.

She also refused 'point blank' to tell officers Mr McMullen's name, instead giving a false, foreign name despite police needing to call a next of kin.
She then claimed she hadn't realised how serious his injuries were and only sought help when she looked out of a back window and saw him turning grey and eyes rolling.

Miss Woods said: 'She claims that she was unaware that he had a serious injury and thought about turning the lights off and going to bed. She told the police she had a cigarette and she mopped up the blood in the kitchen.'

'The defendant did later accept that when she got back she was still annoyed and cross that he had left her alone whilst he was enjoying himself.

'She accepts that she had gone upstairs to the bedroom where he was sleeping and taunted him and tried to get a reaction out of him claiming she had just been with another man.

'There was a row in which she claims she was pinned down on the bed by him by her wrists, because he was angry and shouted. She accepted he didn't hit or hurt her.'

In a video taped interview Mr McMullen said: 'I went to the engagement do with all my mates and I forgot to ring her. I remember just coming round in hospital. I think my brain shut down.'
Relationship: The couple had been happy but the court heard of Burnie's 'sinister' side and she had on two previous occasions turned on him with a knife

He said of the relationship: 'It was good up until eight months. She just started going loopy like screaming and shouting all the time and throwing stuff about in the house, breaking stuff then I would have to fix it.

'We'd argue when rough, after we'd been out, then it started happening when we were out and then it was getting worse and worse, we'd argue about little things.

'She would throw anything, like a plate, I thought 'what a nutcase' but she always calmed down. We would be arguing and she would go to hit me, she thought I had been looking at her mates if we were out. If I couldn't calm her down I used to go for a walk.

'She picked up a knife before but I never felt threatened. I thought she might have slashed me, I never took much notice because I never felt threatened.
'She got a knife and started waving it around, I said 'what are you doing', she started pointing it about. I was a bit paranoid. This is when it was getting ropey and I was thinking 'this isn't going to work'.'

He said he had repaired the bedroom door four times after she broke it by kicking and pushing it through.

He said: 'Every time we had an argument she would do that so I would have to repair in. I just think she needs to sort her anger problems out. She used to say people told her to go for anger management, she never really went into it.'
'I have the odd nightmare about being stabbed, not by her, by other people, someone comes and sits on me and stabs me in the chest. I've had it more than once, it makes me wake up. I just try and block it out.'

Burnie denies wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm but admits the lesser charged of unlawful wounding.
The trial continues.

'I eat 20 bananas a day!' Six months pregnant woman, 25, branded 'irresponsible' for promoting radical fruit-based diet to her 100,000 Instagram followers

Under fire: Loni Jane Anthony, 25, from Australia, reveals on her blog Aleven:11 that she eats up to twenty a day, raw and in smoothies, for breakfast, often lunch and mixes it up by having salad for dinner
A naturally slender woman, who is 26 weeks pregnant with her first child, has come under fire for promoting an extreme diet which sees her eat predominantly bananas.

Loni Jane Anthony, 25, from Australia, reveals on her blog Aleven:11 that she eats up to 20 per day, raw and in smoothies, for breakfast, often lunch and sometimes mixes it up by having salad for dinner.
After opening up about her fruit-based meal plan to news.com.au, commentators deemed the pretty blonde 'irresponsible' and 'narcissistic' - especially as her Instagram account, which boasts almost 100,000 followers, features dozens of 'selfies' showcasing her svelte figure.

Pregnant: Anthony, pictured, who is 26 weeks pregnant with her first child, has come under fire for promoting an extreme diet which sees her eat predominantly bananas

One commentator wrote: 'The human body cannot survive on fruit alone, it is incredibly dangerous for your health not to have variety in your diet.
d
'I applaud anyone who makes a positive change in their lifestyle but fad diets like this one will only work for so long.'

Another focused on the fact she is pregnant: 'I have to say I'm more concerned that she isn't eating anywhere near enough of the right foods, proteins etc that her baby requires for healthy growth.
'It's all very well for you to want to go on this weird diet, but nutritionally I can't see much there to help your baby grow. As someone else commented, she's awfully small for six months along.'

However, Ms Jane Anthony, insists that she has never felt better and has never suffered from eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia.

She said she first got into eating fruit after getting sick and tired of her 'party lifestyle' which saw her binge on junk food and alcohol.

'It wasn’t for weight loss or for a quick fix. I was internally really sick; I was killing myself slowly. If I’d kept living that lifestyle I would have ended up with a disease like cancer or early aging. So giving up that food was really quite simple for me,' she said.

Originally she adopted the low-fat vegan diet created by Dr Douglas M. Graham known as the 80/10/10, which is popular among athletes.

It takes its name from its recommended dietary intake: 80per cent fruits and vegetables, ten per cent protein and ten per cent fat.
'It wasn’t for weight loss or for a quick fix. I was internally really sick; I was killing myself slowly. So giving up that food was really quite simple for me'
Over the past three years Ms Jane Anthony has adapted the plan to suit her tastes - despite many of her friends deeming her 'nuts' for gorging on so many bananas.

On her blog she details a 'typical' day's menu.
'Breakfast usually consists of a mono meal of fruit (at least half a watermelon, six or more big oranges, grapes, apples, pineapple etc).

'Then either mid-morning or lunch depending on how I'm feeling and what I'm doing with usually be a one liter or more smoothie that will always consist of six or more bananas, water, dates and maybe green powder added or berries or coconut water/meat etc.
'Late lunch will be big salad of some sort or . . . if not a salad it will be another mono meal on six or more bananas or a big smoothie.

'Dinner is usually salad, sometimes with baked or roast NO FAT potatoes or mash potatoes, acai bowl, banana ice-cream.'
Glowing: The 25-year-old says she's never felt better

Asked by a fan how many bananas she usually eats per day, the full-time designer and photographer for an action-sports brand responded: 'Depends on the day! The other day I had 15, some days I can have 20. Some days five!'

Although they are a good source of potassium and fiber, Med-Health.net states that 'most health experts' recommend no more than two bananas per day. It says that overdosing can cause headaches, sleepiness, nausea and tooth decay.

Miss Jane Anthony, however, appears to be unaffected by these issues.

'The other day I had 15 bananas, some days I can have 20. Some days five!'
While many have criticized her for encouraging young girls to adopt an 'unhealthy' approach to food, others have congratulated her.

'Obviously her body is healthy as she is pregnant... good on her,' one wrote.
And another told how she had inspired them.
'Excellent work Loni. Hope your little one is born happy and healthy. Just looking at the fruity pics in this story makes me go yum yum.

'I gave up grog for six months and started to add a greater proportion of fresh fruit and veg to my diet and it was amazing. I lapsed a bit so your story is a timely reminder for me to get back on the health track.'

Ms Jane Anthony says her aim is to inspire women her age that 'getting super-drunk and taking heaps of drugs and having no self-respect' isn't the way forward.

Flashback: Photos reveal that Ms Loni Anthony hasn't always been so health-conscious

She said three years after giving up partying and adopting a healthier lifestyle she feels like 'a completely different person.'

'I used to be quite closed off, a little bit angry and was a very ‘I don’t give a f***’ kind of person. [But now I'm] much more grounded and connected with myself and all of my surroundings.'
Musing on why her Instagram account and blog have become so popular she concluded: 'I think it just became interesting for people to see my transition.'

In recognition of the important role of women in the society, 17 women were recently inducted into this year’s class of MMS Plus’ Woman of the Fortune Hall of Fame. The women among whom were two serving ministers, were dubbed women of substance. This event, which took place in Lagos was organised by Kings Communications Limited, Publishers of MMS Plus Magazine, in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The award, the second in the series had Ambassador Kema Chikwe as the chairperson of the governing council of MMS Plus Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame.

Among the recipients were Mrs. Diezani Allison- Madueke, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources; Hajiya Zainab Maina, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development and Mrs. Sally Uwechue-Mbanefo.

Last year also, 17 women including First Lady of Cross River State, Obioma-Liyel Imoke, Dr Kema Chikwe, former Director General, Bureau of Public Enterprise, Mrs. Bolanle Onagoruwa; Former Director General, NIMASA, Mrs. Mfon Usoro among others were honoured.

MMS Plus’ Women of Fortune Hall of Fame is a conscious assemblage of role models who are embodiment of creativity, hard work, professionalism and integrity to help build capacity in different sectors of the economy.

The theme of this year’s induction ceremony into the hall of fame is “Appreciating the strength in womanhood,” which is a reflection of the importance and relevance of the female folk in the society. “This is one fact that President Goodluck Jonathan has elevated to a position of the national priority by the 35 per cent affirmative action on appointive and elective positions for women in his administration,” said Mr. Kingsley Anaroke, Chief Executive Officer of Kings Communication. He said the president had set an unprecedented record, ably engineered by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
He also noted that the idea of women being  builders and good value proponents had it roots in the Holy Bible. “The Ministry of Jesus Christ on earth was essentially made successful by women. As change agents, women who had and still have opportunities in both political and economical positions have given us the reason to believe that they could make better leaders and managers, aside from running homes, if given opportunity.”

Mr. Anaroke however regretted the mentorship gap among women, saying that only a few women did mentorship in their cocoons and associations. “How many of the elected or appointed women have a mentorship programme to groom the younger generation of women to drive their vision? This is one challenge before the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs”

Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun recognised the complexity of the role of women in the society. He said: “You can’t really define the role of women in the society. Women have veritable element of existence to mankind. Women have proven to be very dependable to sustain every passage of life even in difficult situation. It is high time we expected to see women governors come on board to help contribute to the country’s development. Women are less corrupt.”

The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Zainab Maina, through her representative, Mrs. Mary Isong, applauded women in their role in nation building and urged the Federal government to allow women to be part of national developing.

Also, in his goodwill message, the Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar acknowledged  women as strong, mothers, professionals, yet they contributed their quotas to the society.

EFCC Arrests Delta State Auditor General For Local Government Over Falsification of Documents

For alleged refusal to go on retirement after reaching and passing the mandatory 35 years of service as well as falsification of documents, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) South-East Zone, on Thursday arrested Ms. Brown Mary Njokanma, the Delta state auditor general for local governments.
A source in the EFCC Enugu zonal office who pleaded for anonymity told SaharaReporters that Ms. Njokanma was arrested following a petition against her, but that she was later granted bail.

“We told her clearly that she was still in our hook and we shall get back to her because the evidence brought forward by the petitioner against her are overwhelming. A woman who came to service with level four and through the service went to school and came back and rose to that position [should not] deliberately refuse to retire,” the source said.

“With available evidence and records with us shows that the woman was actually employed in 1973 in the defunct Midwestern state. Our findings have also shown that the Bendel Development and Planning Authority where she first got her employment in 1973 [had] been in existence since 1960 in the defunct Midwestern state,” the source added.
The petition was written by a n
non-governmental organization called Excellent World Foundation, and entitled “Fraudulent and Illegal Collection of Salaries By Mrs M. Brown Njokanma, Auditor General, Local Government, Delta State.”  Signed by its executive director, Mr. Michael Enahoro Michael, and obtained by Sahara Reporters, it accused the supposedly retired auditor general of flouting civil service rules and falsification of documents to perpetually remain in office although her tenure had elapsed.

The petition also accused Ms. Njokanma of fraudulently and illegally collecting salaries and entitlements when she ought to have retired in 2008 according to service rules, and appealed to the anti-graft agency to compel her to proceed on retirement as well as order her to refund all the salaries collected illegally from the coffers of Delta State.

The petition underlined Ms. Njokanma’s date of employment in the civil service in November 1973 under the Midwestern state, albeit as Miss Mary Aizebioje, her maiden name. It asserted that Miss Mary Aizebioje was the same person as Ms. Brown Mary Njokanma.

Kwara State Governor's Mistress Delivers Baby Boy

Click for Full Image SizeAuthority sources within the government circle in Ilorin, Kwara State have revealed that the executive Governor of the State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed is once again a darling father of a baby boy, courtesy of his pretty mistress, Yinka Olanrewaju.

Our impeccable sources confirmed that the boy, who is said to be a split image of the Governor, was delivered on September 9 in the state capital, Ilorin.

The story of the pregnancy of Yinka and the romance with the Governor made the rounds early in July, but it was frontally denied by the media team of the governor.

“Now, the chicken has come home to roost, let them come out again and deny. It was as if the poor tot knew the kind of controversy surrounding his coming. So, he decided to share his father’s image, it was as if ‘megida’, Governor Ahmed, vomited him,” our source disclosed to us.

The source revealed that Abdulfattah has accepted full responsibility and everybody is happy now.

However, while Yinka, the mother of the boy and lover boy governor are excited, the story might be different with the First Lady of the state, Omolewa who reportedly relocated abroad and now visits the state house occasionally from her base abroad.

“She was around about a month ago; she stayed for about one week before she travelled back.

“The woman is really nice; her gentle disposition to life cannot allow her cope with the kind of environment she found herself in government house.

“She is a born again Christian with a very strong passion for the less privileged and the low level women, hence her Leah Foundation, which has endeared her more to the rural women unlike the previous dispensation,” said a source.

Omolewa was said to have finally made up her mind to leave the turbulent life in the state house sometime in June when she got wind of the pregnancy of Yinka, who is the daughter of an influential Ilorin-based business mogul, the late Alhaji Oseni Olanrewaju, even while she was battling to conceive herself.

“This issue of Yinka was not the first she had to contend with, though she’s not the man’s first wife, the fact remains that the Governor gave her his words that no other woman will come in between them again and Omolewa trusted him absolutely, not minding his reputation as a lady’s man,” said a source.

Late last year, the issue of one Igbo lady, Ciphering was at the front burner, Omolewa never believed her husband was sleeping with this young girl, whose mother was a cook at the press centre, but a source told us their relationship dated back to the girl’s secondary school days at St. Anthony College, a school she left in 2004.

“When Ciphering became pregnant for the governor last year, it was real hell and the storm which occasioned the pregnancy only abated when mother and child relocated abroad,” our source added.

Michelle Obama Responds to Kanye West’s Recent Comments

Kanye West recently spoke to Ryan Seacrest about a number of things. Here’s one of the things he said.

“There’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t be on the cover of Vogue. She’s like the most intriguing woman right now. She’s got Barbara Walters calling her like everyday … and collectively we’re the most influential with clothing. No one is looking at what [President] Obama is wearing. Michelle Obama cannot Instagram a [bikini] pic like what my girl Instagrammed the other day … so it’s to say when we are there and [editor-in-chief of French Vogue] Carine Roitfeld supports my girl, that’s a breakthrough … there’s a wall of classism that we are breaking through.”

I can only imagine this is what Michelle Obama had to say in response.

Dear Kanye,

Hi, it’s Michelle. Michelle Obama, Barack’s wife. Barack Obama, the President of the United States of America.

That makes me the First Lady of the United States of America. Me = Michelle Obama.

I hope all is well.

You know, Kanye, I woke up this morning. In the White House. And one of my aides told me she had something to show me. Something that would make me laugh. A “cute” thing, if you will.

It was a series of quotes, Kanye. About my husband and me. About my Vogue magazine cover. And fashion. And classism.

They were your quotes. You were the cute thing, Kanye. And my aide was right. It did make me laugh. Oh, what a hearty White House laugh it was.

Keep my name out your mouth, ya heard.

Tell me, Kanye, what’s your goal with this? Why us? Are you still mad about my husband calling you a jackass a few times? Is that why you’re focusing on me instead of on all the other women who have been on the cover of Vogue?
That’s what this is all about, isn’t it? You’re out here all mad simply because we’re stylin’ on you? I know Barack never did apologize for the name-calling, because you know how you men are with your stubbornness.
But it’s more than that. It’s bigger than fashion. To you, this has become a couple vs. couple thing.

I once overheard some of our summer interns talking about you — about how mad you get when you’re compared to other rappers, because your peers are Jesus and Jobs and Walt Disney. I heard it and actually respected that. It shows you have some drive to be a great man. You should fight to get your respect. I see my husband, the President of the Free World, get disrespected every day. And it tears me apart.

So you have to understand where I’m coming from when I say it’s laughable for my 21-year marriage to be mentioned on the same website as your thing with Kim.

Imagine if someone compared you to Papoose, Kanye. Well, you’re Barack’s Papoose. And yes, Kim is my Remy Ma.

My husband’s not moving our family out the country so you can’t see where we stay. Because he runs the country, you see.

And, again, we live in the White House. Very visible.

Look, Kanye, I’m a fan. You had me the second you brought along Uncle Charlie Wilson, and there’s no turning back. I don’t think you’re crazy at all, and in fact fully think you’re saying things that other people are scared to articulate. And, of course, Chicago will always bring us together.

Knowing that, never think that I’m not from Chicago for one second. Barack may be from Hawaii, but I will always be from that 312.

As a woman who loves fashion but never sought to be an iconic figure of some sort, I understand where you’re coming from. And your frustrations. You’re both deeply embedded in fashion, you and Kim, and daring to match, with the man skirts and silly string bikinis. I hear you even have a little pop-up store next to hers that sells nice Confederate flags.

And there’s me, a semi-conservative dresser with my fashion not at the center of my life, and somehow I still ended up on the Vogue cover. And, to make matters worse, I didn’t even ask.

They came to me. And get this, I actually had to think about it.

But next time, Kanye, if we can agree to squash this, I will decline and tell them to ask Kim. Will that make you happy? Will that end classism? Will the inclusion of your born-rich future wife break down the walls that my trailblazing old-ladyness seeks to build up? Just let me know.

Because, at the end of the day, who really needs to be on the cover of Vogue for a third time?

In the meantime, there’s always Terry Richardson.

Jackass.

Send my love to Kim and baby Nori.
