In Ekpoma, Esan West LGA of Edo State, it was reported that at about 9:00am over the weekend in a drinking spot along the Benin-Auchi road, a serving male corp member of Asaba, Delta State named Osaro Edeghonghon while making his exit from the beer parlour, was accosted by assailants. Sensing danger, the corp member took to his heels but was chased by the said assailants who caught up with him, rained bullets on him till he was dead and in a pool of blood.
You will recall that two weeks ago, it was also at the same drinking spot that a woman murdered an aide to the Chairman of Esan‑West Local Government Area, leaving him to die in the pool of his own blood.
However, the father of the deceased corp member, Mr. Patrick Edeghonghon had accused the police of handling the case in a shoddy way and alleged that he was prevented from seeing a suspect arrested in connection with the murder. He, therefore, appealed to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Folusho Adebanjo, to intervene in the matter to ensure that justice was done.
