Mother's Day in India: Hindu Devotees Pierce Cheeks to Honour the Goddess Maha Mariamman

In honour of the Hindu goddess, Maha Mariamman, some Indian Hindu devotees who believe that the goddess protects them, bring good health and prosperity had a procession in Amritsar on Sunday with rods pierced through their cheeks (as seen above).
