Residents of Umuezu, Ndegwu in Owerri West local government area of Imo State were stunned last Thursday from the actions of an eight-year-old boy, Obiefule Odigwe, allegedly broke into the home of his grandmother’s next door neighbour and stole some household appliances.
According to reports, Odigwe a primary three pupil at Ndegwu Primary School was reported to have sold the appliances he sold at N70.
It was gathered from residents of the community that Odigwe gained access into the victim’s home through a door which separated his grandmother’s room from the tenant’s.
The boy’s grandmother is the landlady of the house.

The witness said Odigwe who presently lives with his grandmother after his father died and he was abandoned by his mother, had always wanted to buy things of his own but could not afford them and this led him into the act.
Narrating how it happened, the witness said the boy, after gaining access, allegedly brought out a 9,000 capacity generator, DVD player and an audio player, which he damaged before disposing at N70 to a vendor who recycles scraps, who came to the compound to purchase the items.
