The incident took place at Elekahia community in Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State.
According to the landlord of the apartment, Mr Chikason Boms, the victims had put on the generator which was very close to their bedroom and there was no ventilation.
When they got to the apartment, they found four victims on the floor. Two were dead already while the pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl who was living with the victims were still alive.
They rushed them to Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, Port Harcourt but the doctors on duty did not respond promptly to the emergency situation.
“We waited for too long before they could attend to us but the woman passed on,” Mr Boms said.
It was only the 17-year-old girl that survived the incident.
Confirming the incident, a nurse at the hospital, who pleaded anonymity said the victims were brought to the hospital as early as 5am yesterday but three of the victims died before help could come their way.
She added that the hospital has recorded three incidents of death emanating from poisonous generator fume and urged the media to create awareness on the dangers of inhalation of generator fume.
