A policeman attached to the Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis, Mr. Damudu Bzigu, has been accused of raping  a four-year-old girl in Kassa village of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

He was said to have lured the minor to a STF makeshift tent in the village    where he allegedly raped her.
Confirming the incident to reporters yesterday in his office, the chairman of the local government area, Hon Emmanuel Loman, said: "The girl has been bleeding profusely and she is currently  receiving treatment at the Barkin Ladi General Hospital. It is sad that  some soldiers posted to restore law and order  have abandoned their duties for something else, otherwise what has restoring order got to do with defiling a minor.
“This is not the first time this kind of thing is happening. We are therefore calling on parents to monitor their children."
He called on the commander of the STF to ensure the prosecution of the errant policeman, adding that the local government will also follow the case to its logical conclusion.
Also, the medical officer of the general hospital, Dr. Bapigang Willams Audu, told reporters that the minor was yesterday rushed to the hospital and from results conducted so far, there was forcible penetration resulting in the breaking of her hymen.
He said the minor was being treated in the hospital and necessary tests were being carried out on her in order to prevent infection.
Audu lamented the high rate of rape cases in the locality, stressing that over 10 cases of rape had been brought to the hospital in the past six months.
Obviously embarrassed by the conduct of their colleague, soldiers of Sector 7 headquarters of STF in Barkin Ladi harassed reporters who had gone to get details on the incident.
After intense arguments, only the chairman of the local government was allowed entry, while some soldiers threatened to shoot any reporter that dares to get close to their gate.
STF spokesman, Captain Salisu Mustapha, while also confirming the incident, said   the accused had been arrested and investigations were ongoing.
Meanwhile, residents of Barkin Ladi have called on the federal government to withdraw the STF from the state.
Pwajok Bok, who spoke on behalf of the residents, said the STF had done more harm than good to the people.
"Outside the fact that men of the STF aid our attackers, they rape and intimidate our wives and children. We cannot continue to take this anymore,” he said.
