Two Students Arrested Over Murder Of US-based Businessman

Two students of Alvan Ikoku College of Education, AIFCEO, Owerri, have been nabbed by Imo State Police Command for their alleged involvement in the murder of one Prince Noel Toochukwu Uhuegbu.

The suspects are Eze Charles Nnamdi, a 22-year old 400-level student from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and Maduabuchi Augustine, a 300-level 20-year old student from Ekwulobia, Anambra State.
Disclosing this to newsmen in Owerri, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali, recalled that the late Uhuegbu, who was a show business promoter based in the United States of America, was murdered in his hotel room at Amakohia, Owerri North local council area of the state on February 4, 2014.


Meanwhile, the police said they have smashed a two-man inter state armed robbery gang, whose stock in trade is snatching of vehicles.
Imo police boss gave the names of the duo as John Duru (56), a car dealer from Orlu, Imo State but resident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and 49-year-old Chinedu Vernatius, a building contractor from Orlu and resides at 8,New Covenant Bible Church, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Mr. Ali also said his men foiled a kidnap attempt on Dr. Christian Anyanwu from Ibeku-Olakwo, Enyiogugu, Aboh Mbaise local council area and arrested four of the perpetrators, who were working in collaboration with one Chibuike Ogbuo, now at large and Ikechukwu Azorji.
The CP gave the names of the suspects as Onuegbu Emmanuel Onybuashi (33), Mark Okoro (42), Ikenna Amanze (25) and Nnaji Kingsley (30).

“The police recovered one assault rifle with life ammunition contained in a magazine, one double barrel gun cut to size, two life cartridges, five assorted handsets, Firs Bank ATM card, wrap of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, and a Sienna car with registration number ENG 405 XC.
