Dora Nkem Akunyili Dies At Age 59

The ongoing CONFAB has lost another of its member; Dora Nkem Akunyili who died at about 10am this morning in an Indian hospital where she was receiving treatment for cervical cancer which she had battled with for two years. She was born in Makurdi, Benue State in July 14, 1954.

Until her death, she was a member of the ongoing National Conference, ex-minister of information and a former Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) of Nigeria.

As a pharmacist, she had gained international recognition and won hundreds of awards for her work in pharmacology, public health and human right.

May her soul rest in peace.
