A red Ferrari fit for a superstar – or a student at the American University of Dubai
Judging by the car park at the American University of Dubai, students there are obviously not struggling to make ends meet.
A Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari and a black Aston Martin, which wouldn’t look out of place in a Bond film, line the student car park row after row.
This amazing gallery of supercars, which you are about to ‘peruse’, was taken by student Meeka Nasser who wanted to show the world the array of models on show at the university.
These supercars are owned by the undergraduates.
Meeka said:
‘I attend the American University of Dubai and the cars that students drive here are just ludicrous. If I was back home in Canada my car would be considered nice, but here nobody looks twice at it.
These pictures were taken in the span of a couple days and only in one of the parking lots of the school, so this isn’t even close to all of the nice cars at the school.
‘Because Cayennes and Range Rovers are a dime a dozen here, I only included a few of them in the album.

The presiding judge, Mr. Nuhu Ibrahim, sentenced Ubang to 6 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty. He gave him an option to pay N6,000 fine.
Ibrahim warned the convict to stay away from crime and face life as an adult, saying that he gave him an option to pay a fine because he was a first time offender.

Anyone who says I bleach is stupid –Alao-Akala

Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala
Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala
Former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, in an interview clears the air on some contentious issues;
How did you get enlisted into the Nigerian Police?
It wasn’t accidental that I became a policeman.  It was a dream I nursed as a young lad. I had wanted to be enlisted in a profession where I would wear uniform. I would have loved to be in the military but unfortunately, the day I was to write a test for the police force was the very day the enlistment into the Army was done. I remember enlistment into the Army was fixed for The Polytechnic, Ibadan. I don’t know why those in charge did that. My number was WS44 in 1973. In the police, I would spend one year and become an officer. In the army short service, I would spend six months and I would become an officer. In the Army short service, there was a limit to where I could get to move but for full course, I would spend three years. I then decided to go for the police.

Muhammadu Buhari Has A Say On Obasanjo's Letter To Jonathan

photo - Muhammadu Buhari Has A Say On Obasanjo's Letter To Jonathan
A former military ruler of Nigeria; Major General (rtd.) Muhammad Buhari published his thoughts concerning the controversial letter of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan thus;
"The Obasanjo letter did not come as any surprise to us. No right thinking Nigerian will choose to ignore the apalling descent to anarchy that Nigeria is experiencing under this government.
The good people of this country are equally oppressed by the PDP regimes of both Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. Therefore, while we have the right to demand accountability for the pertinent issues raised in the said letter, we also have the moral responsibility to question the sincerity of the messenger, and to condemn and reject the duo (Obasanjo and Jonathan) for their crimes against the good people of this country.
The destiny of Nigeria is the destiny of 170 million of us. No single individual, no single tribe, religion, political party or region can usurp this destiny for its selfish whim. Our strength and unity is national, not regional. There are attempts by the PDP to undermine this hard-earned national unity, we must guard against such manipulations with utmost vigilance".

He either resigns or becomes impeached as the dirt becomes overwhelming, or he is humiliated in a general election. This time around, [the possibility of] rigging a national election with such wanton scandals is almost nil.”
The cleric added: “What really matters most in life is today not yesterday or tomorrow. For today, Obasanjo has done his best to admonish and warn the nation. I salute his courage and reversal! How many of our leaders can say what he said?”

Spelling errors stall Bill in Senate

Consideration of the Bill seeking more powers for the National Sugar Development Council was stalled at Thursday's Senate plenary due to some spelling and numbering errors.

Entitled: National Sugar Development Council Act 2004 Amendment Bill 2013, it was sponsored by Senator Nenadi Usman (PDP-Kaduna).

It had passed second reading and was sent to the Senate Committee on Industries for further legislative work.
However, during the consideration of the committee’s report at Thursday’s plenary, some senators observed some errors in the bill and asked that it should be sent back to the committee for fine tuning.

Usman told newsmen that the errorswere minor and the committee would need just a few hours to correct them. “What needs to be done will take the committee just a few hours or at most a day because it was just some numberings that we didn’t get right and some spelling errors, which we will correct,” Usman said.She said the exercise was only an amendment to strengthen an existing law, which was weak, in order to give the council powers to deliver on its mandate.

Usman said: “This is just an amendment because there is an existing Act setting up the National Sugar Development Council.“The council has not been achieving much because the Act that set it up was a bit weak in some areas.”Usman recalled that the Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, had, alongside major stakeholders in the sugar industry, worked on the National Sugar Master Plan. She, however, added that the master plan on its own could not deliver what Nigerians sought to achieve in the sugar industry.She added: Nigerians seek to have backward integration in the industry.“That is having more people employed.“But with the plan alone, it’s not going to work.“So, what the plan needs is for it to be backed by a very strong bill hence this bill.”The chairman was optimistic that when the amendment becomes effective, the council would live up to its responsibilities because major stakeholders in the sugar industry had made inputs into the Act.Usman said: “We didn’t just, as a committee, sit down and work on this amendment.“We invited major stakeholders, including the board itself and the minister, to make inputs.“This means that everyone who should make an input has made an input, that is all those who know about the sugar industry.”

The Senate President, David Mark, had on May 22 said the N228.5 billion claimed to have been used for sugar importation within three years was alarming.Mark made the remark at the second reading of the bill, adding that this could be described as “a classic example of policy failure”.
