Rivers State Governor, Amaechi Promises Free Education For Missing School Girls

At the event to formally designate Port Harcourt as the UNESCO World Book Capital, 2014 which was held at Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi who rather suggests agriculture and education as the keys to solving the insurgency as against military action which he says cannot end the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northern part of Nigeria reveals that members of the Boko Haram are being sponsored by unknown individuals. He said:

“For me, I have said over and over that the solution to Boko Haram does not rest in the military. It rests in education and agriculture.

“If anybody tells you nobody is funding Boko Haram, how are they getting the money to buy weapons?”

Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, also promised that free education will be offered to the Secondary school girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram members. He said the school girls will be made to attend the state owned ultra-modern Secondary schools. He said:

“Each of the Secondary school is 4.5 billion naira. As Rivers State Government, anybody who wants to go to that school goes there free of charge and as a step in having being admitted, you are going to be given a laptop. There is no classroom with blackboard; its visual classroom and it is being managed by Indians not Nigerians.

“We are running just one of the schools now and we hope to open the remaining 6. The reason we are yet to open the remaining 6 is because we need 800 million naira per year to run each school and that is because we give free uniforms, free food 2 children per room and so on.

“As the Rivers State Governor, I am willing to assist to take any of the missing school children or as many as we can negotiate into our schools free of charge, “

Chris Brown To Remain In Prison Till June

Chris Brown who was jailed last month after a rehab exercise is reportedly going to remain in prison till June as his latest bid for freedom was denied.

The singer who is involved in an assault case will be flown back to L.A. where he will remain in jail as his trial which was supposed to start today was postponed for June 2014.

To say the least, report has it that Chris Brown might soon be flown back to D.C. on Con air and if convicted in D.C, the judge in the Rihanna case could violate his probation and sentence Brown to four years in prison.

Sharia Court Sentences 63-Year-Old Man To Death For Rape & Infection Of Minor

A sharia court in Kano has sentenced a 63-year-old HIV positive man, Ubale Saidu Dotsa who confessed to inducing a 12-year-old student after which he raped her at Dotsa Village in Kumbotso, Kano. 

The convict who has been living with the virus for over two-years now was sentenced to death by stoning for raping and infecting the minor with the HIV bug.

Report has it that the convict lost his first and second wives to same virus in 2011 of which they both died at six months interval.

Delivering the judgment, Khadi Faruq Ahmed further ordered that N36 million be paid as compensation to the parents of Hauwa Mohammed if their daughter eventually dies.

Estranged Wife Of Pastor Chris Okafor Accuses Him Of Assault

 According to Punch;

Bessem Okafor, the estranged wife of the pastor of Mountain of Liberation Miracles Ministires, Dr. Chris Okafor, has accused her husband of beating her up at their home in Magodo, Lagos.

Bessem who left her home in 2012, said she had, a few weeks ago, gone to visit her four children who were in the custody of their father.

The visit was said to have been arranged by a lawyer from the Office of the Public Defender, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, and her husband’s lawyer, Mr. Onyechukwu Ubani.

She said, “I have not seen my children for nine months and our lawyers agreed that I could come see them at home after school hours by 5pm. I went to the house at the appointed time, but my children were not there.

“I had to wait outside in the compound until 10pm before my husband arrived; the children were not with him. They were later brought home by the driver about 12am. By then it was clear I couldn’t leave again, I had to spend the night.

“The following morning, I bathed and dressed them for school. They pleaded with me to stay back until they returned and since I hardly spent time with them the day before, I agreed.”

What We Saw In Sambisa Forest – Parents Of The Abducted School Girls

One of the lucky abducted students in Chibok who was later rescued and being handed over by her parents at school premises on Monday.

Parents of the abducted school girls who were threatened by the Boko Haram sect for engaging in the Sambisa search recounted their ordeals/experiences of what they saw in the dreaded Sambisa Forest while in search of their abducted daughters.

Narrating their experiences to the state governor, Kashim Shettima when he visited the school, some agrrived parents spoke;

Mallam Amos Chiroma who was among those who combed the Sambisa forest said:
 “We saw a lot of strange things in the Sambisa forest but we will not be able to disclose all for security reasons. Borno and indeed this country require prayers from all and sundry.
 

"While we were in the forest with over 200 volunteers who only had cutlasses, bows, arrows
and sticks, we came across different make-shift camps suspected to be owned by terrorists. It is however unfortunate that we had to turn back when we met one good Samaritan in the forest who advised us that it was in our own interest to go back because the area we were approaching in
the forest was a dead zone dominated by terrorists."

“If soldiers had accompanied us to the forest, we were optimistic that our missing children would have been rescued, or we would be satisfied if we can just see the dead bodies of our daughters”

Woman Gives Birth To Conjoined Twins In Abia

Cases of conjoined twins which is not a consistent happening in Nigeria occurred at Mben Cottage Hospital, Asaga Road, Ebem Ohafia in Abia State.  

The 40-year-old mother of the twins was reportedly said to be reluctant about attending prenatal clinic visits and according to her delivery doctor, Dr. Benard Orji who conducted a two-hour caesarean operation on her, the absence of prenatal visit might have caused the twins to be conjoined.

Speaker Of Ondo State House Of Assembly To Be Buried On Friday

 

Necessary arrangements have been made for the interment of the late Speaker of the Assembly, Hon Samuel Adesina who died in February in a Lagos private hospital during a protracted illness suspected to be cancer. He represented Odigbo II State Constituency in the Assembly until his death.

The burial arrangements are as follows:

Wednesday- 23/4/14 - Service of Song at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Akure, Ogun State.

Thursday- 24/4/14 -  Lying-in-State at the House of Assembly complex and Valedictory Sitting in his honour. Also on Thursday, the remains of the deceased would move to Oniparaga, in Odigbo Local Government area of the state, his home town, in a motorcade, for a Christian Wake.

Brutal Story Of How Five Nigerian Students In Ghana Murdered Fellow Nigerian Student

According to an online Ghana source,  Graphic, Five Nigerian students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) who allegedly murdered one of their compatriots on the campus have been arrested by the police.

The deceased, Godwin Chukwudi Ayogu, was a 19-year-old Level 200 student of the UCC, and a friend of the five arrested suspects. The suspects were said to have vanished from the campus soon
after the discovery of Ayogu’s body on the outskirts of the university.

The names of the suspects are Ogunsanyo Abayomi, Obi Mnaetochi Brendan Ilozumba, Oti Uchechukwu Chijooke, Jimoh Oluwatobiloba Timileyin and Isaac Ifidon. According to the Director General of the CID, Commissioner of Police, Mr Prosper Agblor, the five, together with Ayogu, were pursuing various degree programmes at the UCC.

Boko Haram Issues Death Threats To Parents Of Abducted School Girls In Borno

Parents of the hundreds of schoolgirls that were abducted at the Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS), Chibok in Borno State have been threatened by the men of the Boko Haram Islamic sect if they do not stop their search for the missing girls.

Further to the action taken by these parents who hired and raised money to buy fuel and water for about 150 motorcyclists to go deep into the Sambisa Forest near the Cameroon border to intensify the search for the missing girls with a local vigilante, the parents have revealed to the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) that the the deadly Islamic militant sect have threatened to slaughter the girls if they continue with their search in Sambisa Forest. One of the parents said:
“We are seriously disturbed about the abduction of the innocent children. We, the parents, have decided to raise some money to fuel 150 motorbikes to enter the forest in search of our daughters.”

Dbanj Visits Nyanya Victims, Offsets Hospital Bills

Victims of the Nyanya motor park were visited yesterday  by our pop-star singer, D-banj. The entertainer who visited the victims at the Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja in company of the FCT Health Secretary, Dr Ademola Onakomaiya donated several items and reportedly settled some hospital bills.

During his visit, D’banj said the government alone cannot do all that is required for peace to reign in the country. He said:

“I am a Nigerian and I am affected by any tragedy that befalls us and particularly in the spirit of Easter, I came to show the victims support. I have seen that the survivors are responding positively to treatment and thanked the medical team here for the efforts."

Four Kwara Poly Students Arrested For Robbery

Should i say this is as a result of the ASUP Strike? Well, four (4) students of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara were apprehended by the Kwara Police Command for an armed robbery attack.


Three of the students identified as Olawuyi Babatunde, Osadahin Matthew, Bamikole Emmanuel and another colleague robbed one of their neighbours, Adeolu Emmanuel.

Kwara Police Commissioner, Ambrose Aisabor, said,
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of a cult group – Eiye Confraternity. The suspects will be arraigned in court soon.”

He disclosed that two AK-47 rifles were left near the university campus as his men engaged hoodlums.

Tenants Lynch Landlord’s Son, Dump Corpse On Road

 According to Punch:

Some tenants and members of the Odua People’s Congress have lynched a 41-year-old man in the Ajelogo area of Mile 12, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the deceased, Tolulope Olajuwape, was beaten to death by residents of Fasanya Street near his father’s house after being wrongly accused of being a kidnapper.

The elder sister of the deceased, Mrs. Oluwakemi Adesanya, told PUNCH Metro that her brother had been away from Nigeria for many years.

She said on the fateful day, the deceased had gone to the area to visit their mother, who he did not know was dead.

An unidentified woman was said to have raised a false alarm, after which Olajuwape was beaten to death. She said; 

“My brother has been away from Nigeria for about 24 years. He spent five years in Sierra Leone while he has spent the last 19 years in Guinea Bissau. However, four years ago, he came briefly to Nigeria and we discussed how we were going to renovate our late father’s house on Fasanya Street and let it out.

“We begged him to stay in Nigeria, but he refused. After he returned to Guinea Bissau, we lost touch because he lost his phone and my elder brother, who had his phone number, had misplaced his own phone as well. So, when our mother died over a year ago, Tolulope did not even know.

“On April 9, 2014, I received a phone call from one of my elder brothers in Kaduna, who told me that he heard that Tolulope was in Nigeria and was being beaten up near our father’s house. It was quite late in the evening and I was very far away, so I could not do anything that night.”

Big Fear In Kirikiri As Prison Fence Collapses

According to DailyPost;

Jail break was recently averted at the Maximum Security Prison, Kirikiri, Lagos when the prison fence collapsed after a heavy downpour.

DailyPost exclusively gathered that the fence fell inward after the last Sunday’s heavy rainfall, a development which led to palpable fear within the prison vicinity.
A reliable insider hinted our correspondent that it all started on Sunday morning during an early morning downpour that was accompanied by whirlwind.

“Whenever the cloud is murky, we’ll order all the prisoners inside. So on Sunday when the cloud was gathering,we ordered all of them in,” the insider said.

“When the rain started, we heard a loud sound, at first, we thought it was an attack but when we got there, we discovered the fence had fallen.
The source further revealed that, the warders in charge of the Maximum Prison quickly alerted some security men who arrived and cordoned the fence.
He said security men from the Nigeria Police, army and prison arm guards were on ground to stop any prisoner who may want to escape.
“They were ordered to mend the fence with zinc pending when the fence would be raised,” the source added.

When DailyPost visited the Prison Barracks on Monday, the presence of heavily armed security men was noticed around the broken fence.

2-Year-Old Boy Shot And Killed By His 3-Year-Old Sister

Friday was a day of celebration for many but a tragic incident for some as an Utah boy of 2-years was accidentally shot in the stomach with a rifle by his 3-year-old sister.

Report has it that the children's parents were at home when the gun discharged, and the boy's mother immediately called for help. The boy was rushed in critical condition to Logan Regional hospital for surgery, before being flown to Primary Children's Hospital, where he later died.

The Cache County Sheriff, Lt. Mike Peterson in a statement said;
"The gun had been used earlier in the day by the victim's father and was set down after returning home."

How Armed Robbers Raided 8 Streets, Destroyed Cars & Raped Women In Mushin, Lagos

The fear of Mushin is the beginning of understanding. For many years, Mushin had been amongst the terror zones in Lagos but this time, the story seems to be more pathetic as residents along 8 major streets in Mushin were sleepless and terrorized on Easter Monday.

Armed robbers numbering 60 attacked residents in Coker Lane, New Balogun, Euba, Ayonuga, Tiamiyu, Haruna, Ereko and Oyedele Street. The armed robbers who were said to be with strong ammunitions made their announcement with a warning shots around 12am before starting their house to house robbery until about 7am in the morning.

During the robbery incident which lasted for over seven hours, many properties were stolen, so many properties destroyed and many ladies and women were raped too. Little wonder, even the mosque on Coker Lane was not spared as the worshippers who slept in the mosque after a vigil, were also robbed by the hoodlums.

3-Month Old Baby Stolen By Woman ‘Who Came Visiting’ In Makurdi

 

At about 8:00pm on April 19, a three-month-old baby belonging to one Mr. Ikyavngi Imande was reportedly stolen by a woman who came visiting. This event which happened on Inikpi Street, High Level, Makurdi, Benue State has thrown the family of the baby to tears as the mother of the baby, Mrs. Msendoo Ikyavngi narrates:

“It was on Saturday evening around 8.00pm that Chichi, the girlfriend of my neighbour, Mr. Amos, came to my house, tricked my nanny and stole my baby. My nanny was with the baby and she was crying. So, Chichi came and took the baby for the purpose of making her to stop crying. She now sent my nanny to get water for her to drink.

“It was then that Chichi ran away with my baby right in my house. When this was happening, I had dashed out of the house to buy food  items.

“We have been seeing her recently and we felt she was a  friend.”

APC Begs Boko Haram To Release Abducted School Girls

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a passionate appeal to the abductors of the female students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, asking them to release the students immediately without conditions in the spirit of the Easter season.

In a statement by the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at the dedication of the N150 million Catholic Church in his hometown of Oro, Kwara State yesterday, the party said the grievances of the abductors should have nothing to do with innocent school girls.

It therefore urged the kidnappers to free the girls who remain in their custody and cease forthwith all acts of violence against innocent citizens.

“Violence has never resolved any issue. Dialogue is always the preferred and civilised way to go in resolving any conflict, no matter how difficult.

“We are, therefore, calling on those who have been perpetrating unbridled violence to stop their despicable acts and renounce violence,” APC said.

The Delta State Government having confirmed the reports on the gay men cult named "Yansh" involving teenage homosexuals, the Governor of the state, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Sunday, April 20, 2014made this known in his Easter message to Deltans at the First Baptist Church, Warri, said teenagers aged 15 to 18 belong to the sect named Yansh.

Uduaghan further disclosed that the members of this cult live in rented apartments close to Enerhen Junction, Warri, where older men come to sleep with them. He said:

“These are our sons and men come to sleep with them. It is through the Edu Marshals Programme that we discovered them. We used to know about female harlots, now we have male harlots. Unfortunately they are young boys. There is much government can do, but there is more we can do as parent."

Christian School Teacher Caught Having Sex With Underaged Student In Back Of Car Seat

24-year-old teacher of Florida Christian School, Eric Beasley who used sun visors and a shirt to obscure his vehicle windows while making out with a 14-year-old girl was arrested by the police.

Eric who is the 9th grade biology teacher of the victim not only admitted to inappropriate contact such as kissing and touching during school hours, he also admitted multiple sexual encounters with the student and told the investigators that he performed oral sex on the girl. He further narrated that he started a sexual relationship with her on Valentine’s Day and that they had sex several times in the car and at his apartment. *Oh dear!*

Abductors Of Borno South Senatorial Aspirant Demand N100m Ransom

 

The family members of renowned senatorial aspirant,  Stephen Madu Marama who was kidnapped on his way to Maiduguri from his village Marama have been contacted by the abductors who demanded a Hundred Million Naira (N1,000,000,000) ransom. *Now this is big money! Haba!!*

The contact which was made three days ago keeps Marama's family in a dilemma over the huge ransom as they have been trying to get the government involved but all attempts have failed.
"We have been trying to get help but it is not coming; I spoke with them personally and begged, but they wouldn’t listen."

One of the children of the victim (Bukar Madu) who spoke to the media reporters said:
 “Even if we get some buyers for all our properties, we cannot raise such huge sum for a ransom. 

“I have pleaded with them but they don’t want to consider our request; I feel as if I have already lost my father; all I am praying now is for divine intervention.”

“They told me that when next they call, they expect us to have the money and they would tell us where to take the money to or what to do with the money. I have never seen such an amount and I don’t think the whole family put together can raise such a huge amount.”

Funsho Williams Was Strangled To Death

John Obafunwa, Chief Forensic Pathologist of Lagos State has disclosed that Engineer Funsho Williams, former gubernatorial aspirant was strangled to death by his assassins.

Obafunwa who is a prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of the six suspected assassins said his findings were as a result of post mortem examinations on the deceased.

He said he was at the crime scene on July 27, 2006 at Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi at 5.30 p.m. following a call which informed him about the death. He said:

“I saw the body of a middle-aged man, identified by the family, having his hands tied and lying face down in a pool of blood on a dagger, wrapped with a newspaper.

“I covered the hands and taped it with a paper to prevent a foreign DNA, which may occur during the movement of the body, so as not to affect forensic investigations.

“I noticed that the room was scattered along with two other rooms which I checked before the body was moved to Creek Military Hospital and I left the hospital at midnight.

“During the post-mortem examination, myself and two other pathologists at Creek Hospital discovered a cut on the deceased’s forehead and bruises around his neck,”

Britain's Youngest Parents Of 12 & 13 Year Old Welcome Daughter

Sunday April 13, 2014 was a day of broken records in UK as young parents of 12 and 13 years who met in a park over 2012  christmas welcomed their cute baby girl who weighed 3.1kilograms. The young mother who was 11-year-old when she took in and was still in primary school as at that time. is said to be in Year 7 in high school while her baby daddy who lives near her in North London is currently in Year 9.

The young mother who did not look pregnant keeps her classmates in school shocked as she was still attending lessons until last month. The child's birth had been registered on Tuesday by the mother of the 12-year-old who is 27 years and is said to be one of Britain's youngest grandmothers while the mother of the 27 year old grandmother who is 56 is now a great grandmother. !!Wow!!!

Nigerian Man Caught In India With 330g Of Heroin Concealed In Ladies Shoes

Yesterday, it was a report of a Pakistani teenager who tried to smuggle into the country 25.400kg of heroin. Today, it is a Nigerian man who tried to smuggle 330g of heroin to America but was caught in India.

Report from India Times revealed that a Nigerian man named Ozioma Kenneth Odeomenan who was trying to export 330g of heroin concealed in ladies shoes has been arrested in New Delhi India.

The heroin which is said to worth about $120,000 was to be exported to America but unfortunately for Ozioma, on the 14th of April, the India police got an anonymous tip-off that a Nigerian man carrying hard drugs was coming to the Janakpuri metro station. A team of police officers laid a trap and apprehended Ozioma, who was found with 330 grams of heroin cleverly concealed in the specially made cavities in the soles of women’s sandals.

Ozioma who is into the business of exportation of shoes from India to Nigeria relocated to India for business after his education in South Africa in 2009. As a result of the unsatisfying and disappointing profit his shoe business yielded for him, he abandoned it and was introduced to drug trafficking business by another Nigerian identified as Ike. He later confessed he was heading to Mahipalpur to courier the drugs to the US.

Another Attack: Boko Haram Kills Borno Monarch & 19 Others In Fresh Attacks

“They simply walked right into the palace of the monarch and shot him in his bedroom.”

About 20 villagers including a monarch were killed after gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists, attacked two villages in different parts of Borno state on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, security sources and witnesses said.

In one of the attacks, the gunmen on Wednesday morning at about 7 a.m. stormed Wala Village, killing 18 villagers and injuring several others.

Wala Village is in Gwoza Local Government Area, some 130 km southwest of Maiduguri, the Borno capital.

A local government official, who does not want to be named for security reasons, said “We are in difficult times in Gwoza local government; deaths and killings has become a daily affair; 18 people were killed in Wala this morning by the Boko Haram gunmen”.

It kept me wondering how the Federal Government would be aloof of the happenings in the hospital. Some died and those that were fortunate to survive have been in various Government hospitals in Abuja. The president has visited, given instructions and many well meaning Nigerians have donated blood further to the request made by NEMA to save some fatal cases of blood shortage in some victims.

The injured victims in the hospital are complaining of hunger . For many Nigerians to have turned up few hours after the report of shortage of blood, then it means a lot care; why not those in authorities?

Report has it that so many food stuffs have been donated so why are the management of these hospitals hiding the food stuffs and other items distributed? Little wonder, the bloods donated so far might not be administered on these patients. #justasking

Blast Victims: The Hospital Only Gave Us Injection And Drips - Injured Victims Narrates The Ordeal Of How They Face Hunger In The Hospital.

 

Report from PremiumTimes revealed the shocking experiences the injured victims in the hospital had to face. No food No food!!! This is inhumane!

Shuaibu Abukabar was one lucky survivor of the Nyanya Bomb blast. According to him, he actually passed out and was amongst the dead bodies that were heaped in a truck till he signaled "life" and was removed.

Abubakar narrating the incident from when he regained consciouisness speaks;

“At first there was quietness and suddenly I saw smoke and fire, then I passed out,”

“After I fainted only to open my eyes and tried to turn only to find myself inside a truck with dismembered bodies, they noticed me and later removed me when they realized that I am still alive,” “As I am talking to you now, there is so much noise inside my head, I cannot move my legs, the doctors attended to me, gave me drips and medicine.”

At the Maitama hospital where Mr. Abubakar was being treated on Tuesday, he said he had to endure not only pains but the pangs of hunger. He had, on the day of the incident, missed breakfast, having left so early, and throughout Monday, ate nothing. The hospital provided nothing and he remained hungry until Tuesday morning when reporters visited the hospital.He said:

“I did not eat anything I was too weak to eat but at midnight I couldn’t sleep of hunger, the last time I ate was on Sunday evening, but there was no food provision. Some people from the mosque came here to give me bread and tea this morning, the hospital only gave us injections and drips. I am still hungry, broke and with no money.”
