Steve Soboroff's Phone Cracked By Rihanna Gets A Bid Of N9.4 Million ($58,000) On Ebay

LA Police Commission President, Steve Soboroff whose phone screen got cracked by Rihanna while she was taking a selfie with his phone (Read here if you missed it) had got the a bid of $58,000 (N9.4 Million) hours after it was placed on eBay.

The cracked phone which was autographed by Rihanna is still on for sale and has a duration of 08Hours 43Minutes and 20Seconds left so you can log on and bid too (definitely above N9.4 Million; I dey craze?)

The said phone which was probably not bought above $250 might just turn out to be a celebrity on its own. lol. See below, a munch of the phone on eBay.

Pregnant Sudanese Woman Of 27 Sentenced To Death And 100 Lashes For Adopting The Christian Faith

An eight-months pregnant lady of 27, Mariam Yahaya Ibrahim who is already a mother of one has been commanded by a Sudanese court to denounce her newly adopted Christian faith and return to Islam or face a death sentence by flogging. This ultimatum which will elapse today would determine her faith on Earth. 

Mariam was charged with apostasy as well as adultery for marrying a Christian man, something prohibited for Muslim women to do and which makes the marriage void.

The final ruling will be announced on later today. Ibrahim's case was the first of its kind to be heard in Sudan.

It might interest you to know that such cruel judgement came under the administration of the current Sudanese President, Omar Hassan Al-Bashir whose career has been defined by war. He came to power in a coup in 1989 and has ruled ever since then. President Omar has also said that he wants to adopt a 100% Islamic constitution now that the Sudan has split off.

Mariam who was a Muslim by default of her birth nationality in Sudan was betrayed by her relative who turned her in to the police for marrying a Christian; a crime which is seen as a criminal act in Sudan. On March 04, 2014, she  was charged with adultery and apostasy.

According to the Sudan's Public Order Criminal Code, adultery comes with a punishment of 100 lashes while the apostasy comes with a punishment of death. That which Mariam will face; She will be put to death following the birth of her second child.

On February 7, 2014, Mariam was arrested, with her 20-month-old son, and put in a women’s prison. She had not been charged nor did she receive a fair trial. 

Mariam's first son, Martin who is almost two years old is also in prison with her because her husband, Daniel is not allowed to care for their child. Daniel is also not allowed to see or visit his own son.

Young Sudanese university students have mounted a series of protests near Khartoum University in recent weeks asking for an end to human rights abuses, more freedoms and better social and economic conditions. 

The authorities decided on Sunday to close the university indefinitely.

Western embassies and Sudanese activists sharply condemned the accusations and called on the Sudanese Islamist-led government to respect freedom of faith.

'The details of this case expose the regime's blatant interference in the personal life of Sudanese citizens,' Sudan Change Now Movement, a youth group, said in a statement.

President Omar Hassan al-Bashir's government is facing a huge economic and political challenge after the 2011 secession of South Sudan, which was Sudan's main source of oil.

A decision by Bashir last year to cut subsidies and impose austerity measures prompted violent protests in which dozens were killed and hundreds were injured.

Nyanya Blast Suspect Whom The FG Placed A 25Milion Reward On His Head Has Been Arrested In Sudan

The news of five gang members of the Nyanya blast who were paraded on Monday (read here) had led to the findings of another culprit which makes it a total of six suspects.

Yesterday, Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche (pictured above) whom the Federal Government placed a N25 Million reward on his head was arrested in Sudan where he was hiding. He was arrested by Interpol with help from DSS and will be extradited to Nigeria to face charges of terror.

Abubakar Ogwuche who is British born is said to have served in the Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Army at Child Avenue, Arakan Barracks, Lagos, between 2001 and 2006 and was arrested in 2011 for being involved in terror activities but was released on bail to his father, retired Col. Agene Ogwuche.

Abubakar is currently a student of Arabic Language at the International University of Africa, Sudan.

Rihanna Gives $25,000 To Charity After Smashing Police Chief's Phone At NBA Game

While at the NBA games last week, Rihanna who was seated next to 65 year old L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff requested to have a selfie with his phone but unfortunately, it slipped off her hands to the floor and had a crack on the screen.


Trying to make up for her carelessness, she handed over $25,000 to a charity fund for officers. She then shared a friendly Twitter exchange with Steve afterwards, saying:

 'Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff :)'

He then tweeted

 'BIG @rihanna news: she's donating $25,000 to @LAPoliceFdtn for cadets & families of fallen officers.'

Little wonder, Steve Soboroff is also auctioning the cracked screened phone which is currently for sale on eBay with a current top bid of $1,375 to raise more money for the good cause, after getting her to autograph it writing: 'Sorry! I ♥ LAPD. Rihanna.'

Chinese Man Breaks Record For Longest Time Spent While Covered In Bees With Guinness Record

 

Covered in stinging bees for 53 minutes, 34 seconds gave Liangming (pictured above) the world's recognition he had always desired.

Liangming who is from Fengxin County in China broken the record for the highest time spent while covered in stinging bees. While in the act, he was witnessed and authorized by a Guinness certification officer. He said:

‘I love bees and they love me. Although they call me Bee Beard I am rarely stung by my flying friends.

‘As long as you keep still and don't agitate the bees then all will be well. They are most gentle creatures really and extremely clever. They are sensitive to movement so I just keep as still as possible and they like to settle on me.

French Foreign Minister Slams ‘Mass Rape’ Of Chibok Schoolgirls

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius Tuesday denounced what he called the “mass rape” of Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamic militant Boko Haram group. He said;

“Sometimes in France we talk about ‘forced marriage,’” the French diplomat told a press conference during a visit to Washington.

“But that term is totally inadequate. It’s really a mass rape of young girls,”  

"These girls have been the kidnapped and then enslaved, and it’s a mass rape that must be prosecuted and punished as such.” He added

France is hosting a summit on Saturday focusing on the threat posed by Boko Haram and has invited leaders from at least five African countries, including Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin.

British and American delegations have also been asked to take part, but Washington has not yet decided who will lead the US team. 

FG Ready To Negotiate With Boko Haram

Following the demand of the Boko-Haram Islamic sect to swap the abducted girls with members of their terror group who have been held in custody for over 4 years, the Federal Government has expressed readiness to do same.

The Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, confirmed this during an interview with the BBC on May 13, 2014, Tuesday. He said that if Boko Haram was sincere, its leader, Abubakar Shekau, should send in representatives for talks with the government.

Turaki, who is the head of a panel set up by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013 to explore ways of negotiating with Boko Haram noted that “dialogue is a key option” in bringing the crisis to an end and that “an issue of this nature can be resolved outside of violence”.

It would be noted that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has previously rejected any possibilities for dialogue with terrorists, mentioning that Boko Haram shall not dictate conditions; “The issue in question is not about Boko Haram… giving conditions,”

Mike Omeri, director general of the National Orientation Agency on Monday also said all options remained open for the government in the effort to rescue the girls.

Grandmother Escapes Mob Attack Over Day-Old Baby

 

According to Leadership;

A woman escaped death by the whiskers in Ajegunle area of Lagos State, yesterday, when she was attacked by mob who suspected that she was carrying a stolen day-old baby.

LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that the woman who sells foodstuff at Cemetery Market, Ajegunle, was carrying the he grandchild, earlier delivered by her daughter at a private hospital in Aiyetoro, Ajegunle (name withheld), yesterday and was going to her residence at Abukuru Street, Ajegunle when some people who thought she may not have delivered the baby because of her age, became suspicious.

 

All efforts made by the grandmother to convince them that her daughter who is a footballer delivered the child same day proved abortive as they attacked her, tearing her clothes. The grandmother managed to hold on to the baby as they meted out inhuman treatment on her and the baby began to bleed from the cord because of the attack.

She cried that they should not kill her and the child and pleaded that they should investigate before attacking her. She even showed them some new clothes belonging to the baby which were in her possession but they would not listen.

The divisional police officer of Ajegunle police station, CSP Abayomi Agbana was however alerted and he drafted a team of policemen to the scene and they rescued the grandmother and the new born baby to the station.

The medical director of the hospital (name withheld) where the baby was delivered, was also invited to the station by the police.

The doctor disclosed that the victim is the grandmother of the baby, adding that he asked the grandmother to carry the baby to her residence because her daughter who delivered the baby is suffering from anaemia.

The doctor said the woman was delivered of the baby at about 8:45am  and the mother could not breastfeed the baby because of her poor health condition, adding that any attempt to breastfeed the baby would lead to her death because she lost a lot of blood and her colour was fading.

Children Vow To Boycott May 27 Celebration If Chibok Schoolgirls Are Not Returned

As a result of the over 200 abducted Chibok girls,  the Nigerian children parliament has vowed not to participate in the May 27 Children’s Day Celebration if the abducted girls are not released before the day.

Disclosed by the national speaker, Children’s Parliament, Master Idara Thompson, on Monday May, 12, 2014 at the end of the 2014 national and state Children’s Parliament Retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He said:

“We are disappointed that in a democratically governed country like Nigeria, children who were doing public examinations could easily be kidnapped and turned into sex slaves following what we have heard."

“We will not celebrate this year’s Children’s Day if the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls are not freed. This is the time government must rise up and tell the world that they are capable of protecting children.”

It hurts that those girls are still not found. Sex slaves, sex toys, whatever you call it, i just pray those girls be returned as girls and not mothers, as non-infected and in one piece!. Phew!!

Unqualified Nurse Arraigned After Her Private Patient Dies

 

Yesterday, May 12, 2014, it was heard before the Magistrate's court in Ebute-Metta, Lagos that a 44-year-old woman who claims to be a certified auxiliary nurse and works in a medical centre, Caroline Okoye had allegedly killed one Ephraim Omeugo while administering false medical treatment on him at her residence at the Ijaiye area of Lagos State.

The dead victim, Omeugo who was ill and wanted to visit the state's General Hospital because of the severity of his illness was discouraged by a relative of his who advised him to visit his own medical centre.  Following his relative's advise, he got to the medical centre where he met Mrs Okoye who worked as a nurse.

She reportedly asked the 42-year-old Omeugo to meet her at her home, where she treated him and administered the drugs. After taking the drugs, it was learnt that Omeugo asked for a bottle of soft drink, after which he fainted. He was immediately taken to the medical centre where he died, although the cause of death is yet to be revealed.

Okoye was arrested on one count of reckless and negligent acts. The charge reads;

“That you, Caroline Okoye, on April 16, 2014 at about 8am at 144, Powerline Road, Ijaiye Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, without being a qualified medical doctor or nurse, did recklessly and negligently give medical treatment to one Ephraim Omeugo, aged 42 years.” 

Having pleaded not guilty to the charge, Mrs. Okoye's counsel, E.O.Udoagwa applied for her bail in liberal terms and same was granted by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. E.B. Daodu in the sum of N100,000 with one surety;
“The surety must be gainfully employed in a reputable organisation, with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State for three years. The address of the surety must be verified. The defendant is hereby ordered to be remanded pending the time the bail conditions will be met,” she added.

The police prosecutor, Richard Odige, said the offence was punishable under section 249 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

The case has been adjourned till June 30, 2014.
