Night vigil session for our 234 abducted Chibok girls was conducted yesterday, May 14 inside the Thisday Dome in Abuja by Leaders of the #BringBackOurGirls movement in Nigeria.
The vigil was organized to commemorate 30 days since the abduction of
234 Chibok Secondary School girls by Boko Haram militants in Borno State.

Nyanya Blast Suspect Whom The FG Placed A 25Milion Reward On His Head Has Been Arrested In Sudan
The news of five gang members of the Nyanya blast who were paraded on Monday (read here) had led to the findings of another culprit which makes it a total of six suspects.
Yesterday, Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche
(pictured above) whom the Federal Government placed a N25 Million reward on his head was arrested in Sudan where he was hiding. He was arrested
by Interpol with help from DSS and will be extradited to Nigeria to
face charges of terror.
Abubakar Ogwuche who is British born is said to have served in the Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Army at
Child Avenue, Arakan Barracks, Lagos, between 2001 and 2006 and was
arrested in 2011 for being involved in terror activities but was
released on bail to his father, retired Col. Agene Ogwuche.
Abubakar is currently a student of Arabic Language at the International
University of Africa, Sudan.

Liangming who is from Fengxin County in China broken the record for

French Foreign Minister Slams ‘Mass Rape’ Of Chibok Schoolgirls
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius Tuesday denounced what he
called the “mass rape” of Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamic
militant Boko Haram group. He said;
“Sometimes in France we talk about ‘forced marriage,’” the French diplomat told a press conference during a visit to Washington.
“But that term is totally inadequate. It’s really a mass rape of
young girls,”
"These girls have been the kidnapped and then enslaved, and it’s a mass rape that must be prosecuted and punished as such.” He added
France is hosting a summit on Saturday focusing on the threat posed
by Boko Haram and has invited leaders from at least five African
countries, including Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin.
British and American delegations have also been asked to take part,
but Washington has not yet decided who will lead the US team.
FG Ready To Negotiate With Boko Haram
Following the demand of the Boko-Haram Islamic sect to swap the abducted girls with members of their terror group who have been held in custody for over 4 years, the Federal Government has expressed
readiness to do same.The Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, confirmed this during an interview with the BBC on May 13, 2014, Tuesday. He said that if Boko Haram was sincere, its leader, Abubakar Shekau, should send in representatives for talks with the government.
Turaki, who is the head of a panel set up by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013 to explore ways of negotiating with Boko Haram noted that “dialogue is a key option” in bringing the crisis to an end and that “an issue of this nature can be resolved outside of violence”.
It would be noted that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has previously rejected any possibilities for dialogue with terrorists, mentioning that Boko Haram shall not dictate conditions; “The issue in question is not about Boko Haram… giving conditions,”
Mike Omeri, director general of the National
Orientation Agency on Monday also said all options remained open for the
government in the effort to rescue the girls.

Grandmother Escapes Mob Attack Over Day-Old Baby
A woman escaped death by the whiskers in Ajegunle area of Lagos
State, yesterday, when she was attacked by mob who suspected that she
was carrying a stolen day-old baby.
LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that the woman who sells foodstuff
at Cemetery Market, Ajegunle, was carrying the he grandchild, earlier
delivered by her daughter at a private hospital in Aiyetoro, Ajegunle
(name withheld), yesterday and was going to her residence at Abukuru
Street, Ajegunle when some people who thought she may not have delivered the baby because of her age, became suspicious.
All efforts made by the grandmother to convince them that her
daughter who is a footballer delivered the child same day proved
abortive as they attacked her, tearing her clothes. The grandmother
managed to hold on to the baby as they meted out inhuman treatment on
her and the baby began to bleed from the cord because of the attack.
She cried that they should not kill her and the child and pleaded
that they should investigate before attacking her. She even showed them
some new clothes belonging to the baby which were in her possession but
they would not listen.
The divisional police officer of Ajegunle police station, CSP Abayomi
Agbana was however alerted and he drafted a team of policemen to the
scene and they rescued the grandmother and the new born baby to the
station.
The medical director of the hospital (name withheld) where the baby
was delivered, was also invited to the station by the police.
The doctor disclosed that the victim is the grandmother of the baby,
adding that he asked the grandmother to carry the baby to her residence
because her daughter who delivered the baby is suffering from anaemia.
The doctor said the woman was delivered of the baby at about 8:45am
and the mother could not breastfeed the baby because of her poor health
condition, adding that any attempt to breastfeed the baby would lead to
her death because she lost a lot of blood and her colour was fading.

Children Vow To Boycott May 27 Celebration If Chibok Schoolgirls Are Not Returned
As a result of the over 200 abducted Chibok girls, the Nigerian children parliament has vowed not to
participate in the May 27 Children’s Day Celebration if the abducted
girls are not released before the day.
Disclosed by the national speaker, Children’s
Parliament, Master Idara Thompson, on Monday May, 12, 2014 at the end of
the 2014 national and state Children’s Parliament Retreat in Uyo, Akwa
Ibom State. He said:
“We are disappointed that in a democratically governed
country like Nigeria, children who were doing public examinations could
easily be kidnapped and turned into sex slaves following what we have
heard."
“We will not celebrate this year’s Children’s Day if the kidnapped
Chibok schoolgirls are not freed. This is the time government must rise
up and tell the world that they are capable of protecting children.”
Unqualified Nurse Arraigned After Her Private Patient Dies
Yesterday, May 12, 2014, it was heard before the Magistrate's court in Ebute-Metta, Lagos that a 44-year-old woman who claims to be a certified auxiliary nurse and works in a medical centre, Caroline Okoye had allegedly killed one Ephraim Omeugo while administering false medical treatment on him at her residence at the Ijaiye area of
Lagos State.
The dead victim, Omeugo who was ill and wanted to visit the state's General Hospital because of the severity of his illness was discouraged by a relative of his who advised him to visit his own medical centre. Following his relative's advise, he got to the medical centre where he met Mrs Okoye who worked as a nurse.
She reportedly asked the 42-year-old Omeugo to meet her at her home, where she treated him and administered the drugs. After taking the drugs, it was learnt
that Omeugo asked for a bottle of soft drink, after which he fainted. He
was immediately taken to the medical centre where he died, although the
cause of death is yet to be revealed.
Okoye was arrested on one count of reckless and negligent acts. The charge reads;
“That you, Caroline
Okoye, on April 16, 2014 at about 8am at 144, Powerline Road, Ijaiye
Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, without being a qualified
medical doctor or nurse, did recklessly and negligently give medical
treatment to one Ephraim Omeugo, aged 42 years.”
Having pleaded not guilty to the charge, Mrs. Okoye's counsel, E.O.Udoagwa applied for her bail in liberal terms and same was granted by the Chief
Magistrate, Mrs. E.B. Daodu in the sum of N100,000 with one surety;
“The surety must be gainfully employed in a reputable organisation, with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State for three years. The address of the surety must be verified. The defendant is hereby ordered to be remanded pending the time the bail conditions will be met,” she added.

The police prosecutor, Richard Odige,

Conversion Of Abducted School Girls To Islam, War Against Nigerian Christians – CAN
The National President of Christian Association of Nigeria
(CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has described the conversion of christian
girls as a declaration of war against Christians in Nigeria.
Oritsejafor condemned the act as
shown in the video released by the sect of the kidnapped schoolgirls of
Government Secondary School, Chibok, in Born State by members of Boko
Haram.
Speaking on behalf of Oritsejafor, Elder Sunday Oibe CAN’s national
director of research, at a press conference in Kaduna, said the forceful
conversion of the girls is tantamount to persecution of Christians in
Nigeria.
Reacting to the latest video message by Boko Haram showing the Chibok
schoolgirls reciting the Holy Qur’an on Monday, he noted that those
girls can not be exchanged for the release of any detained Boko Haram
members, as demanded by the sect.
“First, these children are Christians and not Muslims and so they
cannot be converted to a religion that is not theirs at gunpoint without
conviction. Besides, is that how conversion is being carried out? All
the children displayed are Christians and that is the motive behind the
abduction,”
“Secondly, it smacks of some form of religious persecution. If not,
why are their captors converting them to another religion? And if they
say they will use them as a condition to negotiate for their men in
detention, our daughters are not criminals and cannot be used in any way
to free their criminal fighters.
“Show us where in Nigeria you have seen Christians fighting and
throwing bombs in the name of God. We challenge any one to show us where
Christians have abducted Muslim children in the name of Christianity.
We challenge anyone to prove in Nigeria where Christians have taken arms
in the name of protecting Christianity or even carry out acts of
genocide on helpless and defenceless Nigerians. As far we are concern,
it is a war against Christians and Christianity.”

Police Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Spy In Jos

POLICE
sources said on Monday that men of the Plateau State police command
arrested a suspected spy for the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram,
while spying on policemen on parade at the Mobile Police Barracks,
Sector 8, in Jos, Plateau State.
The arrest of the unnamed middle-aged
suspect followed recent complaints by members of the public over the
existence of some strangers said to be parading in parts of Jos and
Bukuru metropolis.
Our correspondent learnt that the
suspect was arrested on Monday while spying on some policemen at parade
rehearsals in preparation for the pulling-out ceremony of the state
police commissioner, Mr. Chris Olakpe.
Police sources said the presence of the
suspect near the parade ground raised the suspicion of those on parade
and when the policemen attempted to interrogate the young man, he took
to his heels.
The Boko Haram suspect was said to have
caused a scare when he ran towards the nursery and primary school
building located within the barracks, but he was apprehended by some
policemen.
He was also said to have made another
attempt to escape when he was being quizzed. He was said to have been
transferred to the Anguljos police station for questioning.
The arrested man reportedly told his
interrogators that he was a Kanuri by tribe and had come from Gonori in
the Gujba Local Government area of Yobe State.
Gonori is said to be a strong base of Boko Haram.
Spokesperson for the police in Plateau
State, Felicia Anselm, confirmed the arrest, adding that investigation
had commenced to determine the identity and mission of the suspect.
“Yes somebody was arrested, but we are
yet to ascertain who he is and his mission. Investigations are still
going on,” Anselm told our correspondent in Jos on Monday.

Residents Scamble For Beer As Nigerian Breweries Truck Crashes On Highway In Ogun
At about 8pm on Sunday, a truck conveying Goldberg Lager Beer fell across the road along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway and attracted a lot people who stole bottles of the Goldberg Lager beer, taking advantage of the brake failure of the truck.
The truck which was said to be fully loaded with the product produced by Nigerian Breweries Plc, fell on the median of the express at the old Toll Gate end of the road after its brakes failed. That which caused a heavy traffic for motorists going from Ogun State to Lagos State through the route.
According to a witness, officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps were handicapped and could not control the crowd.
“The truck was coming from Sango area in Ogun State and all of a sudden, the driver just swerved off the road and the vehicle fell pouring out all its contents,” one Adewole James said.
He further added that nobody was killed in the accident in addition to the bottles of beer that were destroyed.
At the scene of the incident, the crowd, including men and women, scavenged for bottles of beer, picking as many as their hands could accommodate. Some were seen rushing to buy bags to carry bottles of beer while others took crates of beer.
Some just drank the beer as they picked them from the truck, whose registration number had been removed by the officials of FRSC.
A middle-aged man who said he was fortunate to take two crates of Goldberg Lager Beer told P.M. NEWS correspondent that it was an opportunity that comes along.
“This opportunity may not happen again. I was able to carry two crates of beer from the truck,” he said.
An official of the FRSC told P.M. NEWS that they had contacted the Nigerian Police for assistance.
