NIS Stampede: National Hospital Releases 5 More Bodies

Five more bodies of applicants who died during the Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment have been released by the management of National Hospital, Abuja to their respective families.

Only one out of the seven bodies deposited at the National Hospital mortuary on March 14 was earlier claimed after proper identification.

The hospital’s spokesman, Dr Tayo Haastrup, said on Saturday:
“we had earlier released only one body but in the last two days, we have released five more bodies to family members of the deceased." 

“We are left with one body and it will be released to the family members after proper identification,’’ Haastrup said. 

He said two women were still on admission in the hospital and hoped that they would be discharged soon.

Insane Woman Halts Flow Of Traffic In Ibadan

On Wednesday morning, a woman suspected to be insane held motorists hostage for several hours at Olanipekun Street, Ososami/Iyana Adeoyo road, Ibadan, as she decided to sleep on the road, thereby obstructing free flow of traffic around the area.

The woman, identified as Adebimpe Adegbesan, according to one of her neighbours who preferred anonymity, had been suffering from mental instability since two years ago.

“Although her family members have done a lot to ensure that she regains her sanity fully, but the problem still persists as you can see.” 

Another source informed that the woman had, in the early hours of Wednesday, broke into a church beside the house she was staying and started throwing chairs and other valuables belonging to the church out, claiming that the church was erected on her father’s land.

20 decomposing bodies found in Ibadan forest

     
According to TheNation;

No fewer than 20 decomposed bodies were yesterday discovered in what is believed to be a ritualists’ den at Soka forest in the Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Twenty-three other people -18 men and five women including one who had just been delivered of a baby – apparently on the captors’ ‘death row’ were rescued from the bush.

Each of them looked dishevelled having been chained together for many days and denied food and any form of comfort.

Nine of them lay on the ground, too weak to stand on their feet or talk. Human skulls and other parts littered the bush.

NIS Stampede: “I Looked Everywhere For My Wife And Found Her In The Mortuary” – Widowed Father Of Three

Pictured above is Mr. Austin Amun with his three children. His wife, Sandra Awun was amongst those who lost their lives at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City during the immigration recruitment last Saturday, March 15, 2014.

If he had known how the day would end, he laments, he would have asked government to forget its job so they could continue to live together. Mr. Amun, from Uzebba, Owan West LGC of Edo State, survived the stampede.

Amun recalled they got to the recruitment venue on time, but met an uncontrollable crowd at the stadium, as thousands of applicants struggled to participate in the job test.

The stampede occurred because the organizers decided to lock the big gates and used the small ones at the stadium. As a result, people had to pay N1000 each to gain entry. Those who could not afford the money made frantic efforts to find their way into the stadium at all costs, a situation that created chaos.  
“I applied for the job as a senior secondary school holder while my wife applied as a graduate because she finished from Auchi Polytechnic. On that day, while we were on queue, I could have been the victim because while I was in the crowd, I almost couldn’t breathe. I told her we should go home,” Mr. Amun narrated.

Generator Fume Wiped Out Man, His Pregnant Wife & One Other

A man, his pregnant wife and a little boy have lost their lives after inhaling poisonous generator fume.

The incident took place at Elekahia community in Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State.

According to the landlord of the apartment, Mr Chikason Boms, the victims had put on the generator which was very close to their bedroom and there was no ventilation.

When they got to the apartment, they found four victims on the floor. Two were dead already while the pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl who was living with the victims were still alive.

Brymo Frustrated As Judge Adjourns Case Again

A frustrated Brymo stormed out of a Lagos court on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 after a delayed response to a petition by his counsel led to the adjournment of the case.
The court sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos was ended abruptly after Chocolate City‘s Counsel T.O Lawal stopped Brymo from giving his own side of the story after he was called to the witness stand.

Chocolate City’s lawyer in legal terms argued that the case should be put on hold because Brymo’s counsel had delayed in responding to a 2013 petition.
At the court sitting which lasted from 1:50 p.m to 2: 40 p.m, it was learnt that Brymo’s Counsel Nike Olagbende was 10 ten days late in replying to a 2013 petition forcing the judge to adjourn the case to a later date.

In what seemed like an appeal, the former apex CBN governor; Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (pictured above) had earlier filed a suit seeking an order restraining the police and officers of the Department of State Security (DSS) from arresting, detaining or otherwise harassing him.

In the said filed suit,  the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Department of State Security (DSS) were copied as first to third respondents respectively.
 
Then on Friday, March 21, 2014, the Federal Government while speaking to the Federal High Court in Lagos, had said that it (Federal High Court) cannot stop the police and the Department of State Security Service from arresting the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido.

Police Smash Baby-Making Factory In Ogun, Where A Baby Is Sold For N100,000 Each

On Friday, March 21, 2014, 10 suspects were paraded by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly being involved in the running of a baby making factory located at Sebanjo Crescent, Fagbunle Bus Stop at Akute area of the state.

Eight of the suspects were pregnant ladies between the ages of 16 and 21.

Angela Chidozie who hails from Abia State lives with her husband and children in a four-bedroom bungalow and she is said to be the operator and manager of the baby making factory.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ikemefuna Okota, said the arrest was possible with the help of neighbours;
“I have stressed the importance of community policing.  We got information yesterday that Chidozie was keeping pregnant juveniles in her house."

“After the mothers give birth, Chidozie would sell the babies for N3m or more while the mother of each child would be given a pittance. When we got to Chidozie’s house yesterday, there was no one in sight. We left and when we later returned, we discovered that five of the girls were hiding in one room."

Borno Government Closes 85 Secondary Schools Due To Boko Haram Threat

 

According to TheScoopNG, public secondary schools in Borno State have been closed indefinitely by the Borno Government. This is as a result of the vicious attack against Nigerian children in school by the Boko Haram sect.

Report has it that about 85 secondary schools catering for about 120,000 students were closed.
 “We reported to school on Friday last week (March 14) but to our shock the principal of the school told us he had received orders from the ministry of education to close down the school indefinitely,” said teacher Suleiman Gana.

 “He (the principal) told us the decision affects all public secondary schools in the state and was taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard lives of teachers and students from Boko Haram attacks,” Gana said.

World’s Fattest Baby: 8-Month-Old Weighs Astonishing 19.5kg (Interesting!)

Santiago Mendoza is only eight months old but already he weighs 3st 1lbs –the same as a normal child aged six.

Now he has been taken from his mum by a charity which says it is “rescuing” the 19.5kg youngster so he can have life-saving treatment.

Mother Eunice Fandiño admitted that her own “ignorance” had made her son pile on weight because every time he cried she gave him food or milk to calm him down.

“He was born with an anxiety so if he cried I just fed him,” she said, adding that she was virtually a prisoner in her home because the baby was too heavy to take out.

Immigration Test: Applicants Drag FG To Court, Demand N528billion Compensation

The last has not been heard of last Saturday’s recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Immigration Service, as four of the applicants have instituted a class action suit against the Federal Government before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

They are seeking an order declaring the exercise illegal and compelling the Federal Government to pay N528, 271, 650,000 to all the applicants who participated in the test nationwide.

The aggrieved applicants are Charles Ugwuonye, Friday Danlami, Chinedu Onwuka and Samson Ojo.

Man Arrested For Having Sex With A Pit Bull In Front Of Neighbours

According to Mirror, a 58-year-old man, Bernard Marsonek was arrested for allegedly abusing a dog (Pitbull) sexually in his front garden and in the presence of his horrified neighbours.

At the arrival of the police, they discovered a firearm and ammunition in Marsonek's house. Shockingly, eight pit bulls were also found in his house.

Bernard was arrested on two counts of firearm possession by felon, animal cruelty and sexual activity involving animals.

The dogs were taken into the care of Hillsborough County Animal Services.

Armed Robbers Attack Church In Lagos, Steal N2 Million

 

Robbery in the church is becoming a common incident and these robbers are not even scared of God. Anyways, while members of Christ Apostolic Church, Alagbado, Lagos were having a vigil last night, at about few minutes past 2am, no fewer than 15 armed robbers invaded the church during the prayer session.

In a space of 20 minutes, the armed robbers were said to have stolen about 40 phones, N2 million and had also attempted to rape some of the female members.

A member of the church who witnessed the robbery said that a strange man was seen making strange phone calls during the vigil.

“The vigil actually started around 12 midnight. Some of us observed a man who came in around 1.30am. He was seated in the women’s section. About four persons tried persuading him to change seat, including the pastor, but he refused. So they left him.

“I observed him going out several times to make phone calls. At about 2am, I overheard him saying, ‘start coming, they are praying’. Few minutes later, I heard a gunshot.”

The robbers were said to have left before the police arrived at the scene.

Bowen University Closed Indefinitely Following Students Riot

The management of Bowen University this morning closed the school indefinitely following students’ protest last night. Students of the private university say they are protesting scarcity of electricity, water and plans by the university to increase school fees. The students say they are not being treated right;

“They take the light by 8am, and bring it back by 8pm and it goes off by 11pm again. We don’t have water, no socket light, while our lecturers are in AC offices and cars. We have time table for eating. 7-9am for breakfast, 12-3 for lunch and 6-8 for dinner. Most times we have classes during these periods” one student said.

All students have been asked to leave the university while some students who were detained last night after the riot are yet to be released.

House Of Representatives To Probe Allison-Madueke For Alleged Expenditure Of N10bn On Private Jet

Often times, the Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Mrs Dieziani Allison Madueke has been immersed in pools of controversies.

The public accounts committee of Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called for an investigation into the alleged expenditure of billions of Naira by the minister in maintaining a private jet.

The Lawmaker who tables the motion, Mr. Samuel Adejare (Lagos State) said the house will be seeking to know if the monies spent on the Challenger 850 aircraft were from government’s purse. An inquiry will be made on how 10 billion Naira of state funds have allegedly been spent on chartering, operating and maintaining a private jet for Mrs. Madueke’s personal use.

Adejare also indicated that Madueke spent about 500,000 Euros (N130 million naira) monthly to maintain the aircraft which was for her personal use and that of her immediate family. He revealed that the allegations were based on a “reliable evidence” .

A 28-year-old Indian mother, Urmila Sharma gave birth to a conjoined baby girl with one body, two heads, two necks and two spinal cords via a cesarean section. Report has it that conjoined twins with this condition typically cannot be separated as they suffered from dicephalic parapagus (an extremely unusual form of conjoinment) and shared all major limbs and vital organs. (According to Daily Mail, the chances of survival are slim because they share the same body).

This delivery took place in the morning of Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital in Sonipat, Haryana, Northern India.

"Yes this report is perfectly true that we have delivered a female baby having two heads,” Dr. Ashish Sehgal, the CEO of Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital told ABC News in an email. "She is presently alive and healthy" 

19-Year Old Kenyan Lady Infects More Than 300 Men With HIV As Revenge

Lipstiq reports of a Kenyan woman who has admitted that she has infected over 300 men with the HIV virus on purpose and she said she’s doing it in revenge for a man who had unprotected sex with her while she was drunk, and passed the virus on to her.

The woman is only 19 years old and mentioned that she was a virgin until she went partying with some students at a local university. She claims that when she woke up the next morning, she realised that one of the guys had sex with her while she was intoxicated.

She asked him if he had used a condom and he told her “yes”, but when taking a bath, she noticed semen in her vaginal area. “I wanted to commit suicide, I feared getting pregnant and HIV,” she said.

29-Year-Old Lady Dies In An Accident, A Month To Her Wedding

Amongst the souls that were lost in the fatal auto crash along the Lagos-Benin road which occurred on Monday, March 17, 2014 (Read it here) is a 29-year-old Juliet Igbinoba (pictured above with fiance). Juliet who had distributed her wedding invitation cards was set to wed on April 19th. She was actually on her way home to meet her people regarding her proposed wedding till she met her untimely death.

Juliet who is an accounting graduate of Auchi Polytechnic Edo State, until her death, was a staff of Fouani Nig Limited.

27-Year-Old Lady Beats Up Her 10 Year-Old Niece & Inserts Aboniki Balm Into Her Private Part For Bed-Wetting

27-Year-Old security guard, Joy Amodu (pictured above) has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly torturing her 10-year-old niece, Foziya Danjuma for bedwetting the bed. It was reported that Joy beat her niece with a spatula and inserted Aboniki Balm (methyl salicylate ointment) into her private part and her eyes.

Not only did Joy throw 10-year-old Foziya into an unconscious state, she also inflicted teeth bites all over the girl’s body.
