Mother Of Two Abducted Chibok Girl Dies Of Heart Attack

Amongst the girls that were abducted by the Boko-Haram sect in Borno are two sisters belonging to same father but different mothers.  Sadly, the mother of one of the sisters, Mary Paul Lalai hearing the shocking news of her abducted daughter, collapsed and died of heart attack.

The news of her death was confirmed by a member and representative of the Chibok constituency in the State House of Assembly, Aimu Fona who said:

" It was not the father of the two girls that died but one of his two wives, who on hearing the shocking news of the abduction of her daughter, collapsed and died of heart attack."

The late Mary had since been buried according to Christian rites at the  Mbulabam Village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

May her soul rest in peace.

Blessing Okagbare Breaks Records In China

Nigerians got talent! At the occasion of the Shanghai Diamond League, our very own star athlete, Blessing Okagbare emerged tops in both the long jump and the 200m events that she took part in. The Nigerian set a new meeting record in the long jump taking the first position with a 6.86 metres leap.

She equally followed it up with another meeting record of 22.36secs in the women’s 200m event, beating Anthonique Strachan from Bahamas.

Only last week,Okagbare came in at second position in the 100m event at the Diamond League in Doha, finishing only behind Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Pres. Jonathan And The Visit To Chibok

I have been keeping up with the news of President Goodluck's visit to Chibok and i just can't resist but express disappointment about some ideas. Many Nigerians have ranted about his cancelled trip to Chibok. The president who has been on a very hot seat since this #ChibokKidnap while at the press conference for the Regional Security Summit that held in France on Saturday explained why he has not visited Chibok ommunity. He said:

"The school is owned by the State Government but it is the commitment of the Federal government to rebuild the school, build walls to protect it and provide facilities since it is predominantly a school that takes care of girls education so that the girls would be protected. 

"Yes I will visit Chibok, no doubt about that but what we are anxious about now is to locate the girls. These girls are not held in Chibok. If the President goes to Chibok today, does that solve any problem? Maybe psychological problem or for media relevance but you have not solved the problem. The problem facing the President and indeed the Nigerian government is to get these girls from wherever they are"

Irrespective of the president's explanation on the cancellation of Chibok trip, so many are still casting the stone! 

It might interest you to know that in my opinion, it is unnecessary for GEJ to visit Chibok. Why?  you may ask; Going back to history, this was exactly how the Northern Oligarchs cornered Aguyi Ironsi and slaughtered him! He who can't learn from history, will repeat it.

Buhari Denies Son's Arrest By EFCC Over N20million Scam

Former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari has issued a statement dissociating himself from one 'Mohammed Buhari', said to be his adopted son who was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged N20Million Naira fraud (see here).

The statement issued by Jasper Azuatalam on behalf of the former head of state says:

 "Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) wishes to state categorically that he does not have any adopted son called “Muhammadu Buhari” and had no need to adopt a son at any time having been blessed with choice children, both male and female. Muhammadu Buhari and his family do not know the said “Muhammed Buhari” who is alleged to be involved in a #20M scam and is being held by EFCC as reported by Saharareporters.

"It is regrettable to note that after several unsuccessful attempts to smear the hard earned respect, popularity, dignity, and enviable image of Muhammadu Buhari, mischief makers have resorted to a laughable tactic of linking Muhammadu Buhari to a crime just because someone who has been alleged to have committed a crime somewhere bears the name “Buhari”.

"Muhammadu Buhari is blessed with very descent and disciplined children who obviously took after their father. His children have no single record of stealing and inordinate behavior anywhere in the world. They do not seek attention, but have proven the stuff their father is made of any time their character is put to test.

"However, this is understandable, since the entire attempts by mischief makers to discredit Muhammadu Buhari as an individual have failed. We frown at this poorly articulated gimmick to indirectly link Muhammadu Buhari and his family to a crime allegedly committed by someone unknown to him and his family just for the fact that the said suspect bears the name “Muhammed Buhari”.

"We urge Nigerians to ignore the said report as Muhammadu Buhari and his family will continue to set the pace for others to follow in good character and conduct", the statement concluded.

General Buhari's Adopted Son Arrested Over N20million Scam

Mohammed Buhari, an adopted son of former Military Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari who was introduced to one Mrs. Florence Nwokocha through his account officer at Ecobank had allegedly defrauded her of N20 Million.   

Mohammed who had promised Mrs Nwokocha 10% of annual profit from a supposed oil deal which she was made to invest N20m into reportedly disappeared thereafter but unfortunately for him, he was caught and arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. 

He is currently in the custody of the EFCC.

'Those Who Wage War Against Allah Should Be Crucified’ – Captured Nyanya Bomber Ogwuche

The mastermind of the Nyanya bomb blast who is presently in military custody after being captured by the Sundan interpol in an attempt to escape on Tuesday, May, 2014 (see here) has always been known for his radical beliefs while studying Business science at the University of Glamorgan  now University of South Wales from 2007 to 2010 in Pontyridd.

According to reports, the suspect even nicknamed himself ‘The Lion of God’ during his stay in Britain and even threatened to mutilate innocent people whom he felt were ‘non-believers'.

Ogwuche was an active student while in school. He was a member of the university’s debating society and wrote on an online professional profile but did not complete it: “I used to be in the military back at home and my goal now is to be a successful businessman” .

He was also a member of the campus prayer group.

People who knew him back then in school have expressed their shock to find out about his major involvement in the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls and the Nyanya bomb blast in Nigeria.

Mustafa Ja, a Dutch student who studied with him at the university from 2009 to 2011 said,: 

 “I’m shocked. Wow, I’m just really shocked. I used to meet him during Friday prayers and whenever we broke our fast at the mosque on campus.

“He didn’t seem to have any extremist views then – police officers would come and visit the prayer room regularly, so I don’t see how he could.”

A former house mate in school said: “I find it very creepy that Ogwuche may have become caught up in terrorism.” 

Anju Moro said: 

“He was very devout but then many people are. He would often just spend time in his room between going to and from prayers but he seemed harmless, if very serious.

“It is very creepy that he could have been having thoughts like that but he disappeared years ago so I suppose you can never know, can you?”

While living in South Wales, posts on his Facebook page became more and more extreme. his  profile picture on Facebook is that of a lion with the word “Asadullah”, meaning ‘Lion of God.’

“Those who strive in the path of Allah love death like the kuffar love life, hahaha. Let them know, we are always ready to meet our lord anytime he wills.”

“The only punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is that they should be murdered, or crucified, or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides, or they should be imprisoned.”

Another post said: “We warn you to give up your disobedience to Allah and surrender to him or wait we bring your humiliation; then you will be regretful and on the knees.”

He is a member of Paltalk – the world’s largest online video chat community boasting more than four million members which has been abused by Muslim extremists to preach hate.

Anjem Choudary, founder of the banned group, Islam 4 UK, Omar Bakri Mohammed, who caused outrage in Britain by praising the hijackers behind the September 11, 2001 attacks and was banned from re-entering the UK in the wake of the 7/7 bombings, and Abdullah el-Faisal, who was deported in 2007, were said to have joined forces to use the site to preach their message around the world.

Ogwuche was not just posting messages of hate on his Facebook page, he was also advertising himself as a respectable business professional online where he claimed he had completed his degree course in business studies and had previously worked for the Nigerian Army’s intelligence division.

After leaving Britain in November 2011, he was arrested at Abuja airport on arrival from the UK on suspected terrorism-related activities but was released to the care of his father, a retired army colonel, following pressure from Human rights community.

Ogwuche reportedly served in the intelligence unit of the Nigerian army but deserted in 2006, according to Nigeria’s Ministry of Information. A spokesperson for the University of South Wales said:

"Aminu Ogwuche was a student at the former University of Glamorgan between 2007 and 2010 but didn’t go on to complete his studies at the university.

“The university has a strong community ethos with no history or evidence of extremist behaviour across any of its campuses; so it is surprised to hear of his apparent involvement with terrorist group, Boko Haram.

“There were no reported indications of extremist behaviour during his time as a student.

“There has been no contact between Mr Ogwuche and the University following his departure in 2010.”

Immigration Officers Batter UNICAL Lecturer Whom They Suspected To Be A Boko-Haram Member

The terrors in this country have led to the beating of an innocent man who was mistook for a Boko-Haram member by some immigration officers. Mr. Okon Effiong Ekpenyong while heading home with his children after the day's work yesterday, had a fault on his vehicle which broke down along the road. Having worked on it and was about to continue his movement home, some immigration officers accosted him and suddenly assumed he was a Boko-Haram member.  

About 12 of the immigration officials pounced on him, forced him out of his car and started hitting him with gun butts and other weapons till he passed out. He even lost four of his front teeth (as seen in the picture). What a pity!

According to Punch;

A lecturer in the Department of Business Management, University of Calabar, Mr. Okon Effiong Ekpenyong, has lost four teeth after he was allegedly brutalised by some officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Cross River State command, for traffic offence.

Ekpenyong, who narrated his ordeal on Thursday, said his vehicle developed a minor fault on Bassey Oqua Street in Calabar, near the NIS headquarters. He said after fixing it, he was leaving the area when the officials accosted and assaulted him, saying he made a U-turn at an unauthorised point.

According to Ekpenyong, who says he has been residing on Ekong Bassey Close, near the NIS headquarters, for the past 10 years, the incident happened on his way home at about 5pm on May
 6, 2014.

He explained that after the incident, which took place in the presence of his two sons, he lost four teeth and over N50, 000 which was in his pocket. He said:

 “After the car developed a fault, I called some people to help push it off the road and I went home
 to get my two sons to buy fuel in a jerry can because I suspected it might be petrol since the gauge was faulty.

“I tried to start the car after refueling, but it did not start. We had to push it down the Bassey Oqua
Street, which is close to the NIS residential quarters.

“Immediately the car started, two NIS  officials flagged me down; I obeyed. They said I had just made a U-turn at an unauthorised point and they concluded that I was a Boko Haram suspect, adding that they would not waste time in dealing with me.

“Immediately, about 10 other officials joined them, they forced me out of the car and started hitting me with gun butts and other weapons. I passed out in the process.”

Ekpenyong said before he became unconscious, he was able to identify four persons – a deputy
comptroller, a chief superintendent and a male and female junior officials.

He said when he later regained consciousness in a cell, a senior NIS official, who identified himself
as the provost, pleaded with him and released him to take care of himself in a hospital.

The lecturer said he proceeded to the Airport Police Division in Calabar to report the incident from where he was taken to the Police Clinic for medical attention.

A report, which was issued by an investigating police officer, Edwin Jenuwa, confirmed that Ekpenyong was taken to the clinic at about 6pm with fresh blood stains after suffering assault and grievous harm.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was currently being investigated.

It was gathered from the police headquarters that the immigration officials had so far refused to honour police invitation on the matter.

Public Relations Officer of the NIS, Cross River Command, Mary Abang, said she had not been briefed on the development.
“I have not been around, I just came back and will find out what happened,” she said.
