On Thursday, sitting before Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, FCT, one Ola Omo, of Asokoro, Abuja was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for stealing wine and biscuits.
It was gathered from the prosecutor in charge of the case, Mr. Philip Akogwa that the accused broke into the shop of one Eniola Doherty. Akogwu, stole six bottles of different brands of wine and 10 packets of biscuits, all valued at N27,550. He further added that the offences were contrary to sections 248, 355 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The Presiding Officer, Mr Hassan Ishaq, however, gave the accused an option of N18, 000 fine for the offences of criminal trespass, house breaking and theft.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charges and begged the court for leniency.
“Please have mercy on me sir, it is the work of the Devil,” he said.
