At Least 71 People Have So Far Been Confirmed Dead, 124 injured - Abuja Emergency Relief Agency

Tweet from BBC Africa has confirmed that in the bomb blast which occurred this morning in Nyanya, Abuja killed at least 71 people and 124 have been confirmed injured and are receiving treatment in the Asokoro General Hospital in Abuja.

Pres Jonathan Cancels Trip To Ibadan And Visits Scene Of Abuja Bomb Blast

President Jonathan who was supposed to be in Ibadan to felicitate with the Olubadan of Ibadan who turned 100 years today had cancelled his proposed trip to visit the blast scene and thence, to the Asokoro General Hospital to see the injured victims of the attack who are undergoing treatment. While in the hospital, he directs the medical services to do their very best to save the lives of those injured in Nyanya bombing.

President Jonathan also extends his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. However, there is a reported case of shortage of blood, blood donors are needed.

NYSC Member Brutally Murdered In Edo State

 

In Ekpoma, Esan West LGA of Edo State, it was reported that at about 9:00am over the weekend in a drinking spot along the Benin-Auchi road,  a serving male corp member of Asaba, Delta State named Osaro Edeghonghon while making his exit from the beer parlour, was accosted by assailants. Sensing danger, the corp member took to his heels but was chased by the said assailants who caught up with him, rained bullets on him till he was dead and in a pool of blood.

You will recall that two weeks ago, it was also at the same drinking spot that a woman murdered an aide to the Chairman of Esan‑West Local Government Area, leaving him to die in the pool of his own blood.  

However, the father of the deceased corp member, Mr. Patrick Edeghonghon had accused the police of  handling the case in a shoddy way and alleged that he was prevented from seeing a suspect arrested in connection with the murder.  He, therefore, appealed to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Folusho Adebanjo, to intervene in the matter to ensure that justice was done.

70-Year-Old HIV patient Rapes Teenage Girl In Plateau

In Barkin Ladi Local Govt Area of Plateau State, a 70-year-old HIV positive patient who raped a 13-year-old girl last week Thursday was arrested by the police. The old man who is on anti-retroviral drugs was caught in the act of rape by the landlord's son who reported to the police.

Having being questioned at the station, he confessed that he truly committed the crime but later denied after some of his kinsmen told him to deny raping the minor. 

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe confirmed that the 70-year-old man is in police custody in Barkin Ladi, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl but said he would be transferred to the headquarters in Jos.

The man whose name has been withheld was said to have raped the girl last Thursday.
The suspect said to be  in police net is infected with HIV and is on anti-retroviral drugs.
The old man was said to have been caught in the act by the son of the landlord, who immediately reported the matter to the police.
It was also gathered that the old man had confessed committing  the crime, but later denied after some of his kinsmen told him to deny raping the minor.

“They Were Free Gifts From Me” – Designer Of First Daughter’s Gold Plated iPhones

Like seriously! I am out to get to the bottom of this news. Michael Awolaja who happened to be the contractor of the 24 Carat Gold customised iPhones that were distributed to guests at the wedding reception of President Jonathan's daughter (read HERE) is trying to convince the public that the iPhones were not contracted to him by the President.

Mr. Awolaja who is trading under the name and style of "Malivelihood" took to Twitter to say that he designed the gifts on his own. Please someone should remind me of the relationship between President Jonathan, his daughter and Michael!

Now this is an event which happened since Saturday during the wedding ceremony of the President's adopted daughter; Faith Sakwe. I had to bring it on here because i have a lot of gists to refer to it and i assure you that a lot more will unfold from this.

Rewind.... President Goodluck Jonathan had a presentable souvenir for his guests at his daughter's wedding ceremony. Customised 24 Carat gold iPhones. And guess what? Tonto Dikeh's alleged boyfriend, Michael Awolaja (Malivelihood)  who is sells phones got the contract to supply these gold iPhones to guests. Each of these phones are said to worth about N500,000 in its Naira equivalent.

100 Feared Dead In Monday Morning Bomb Blast In Abuja

In the early hours of this morning; Monday, April 14, 2014, while some were trying to board buses to their different places of work and business locations, there was an incident of a bomb blast in a crowded area of Nyanya in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Report has it that a car which was parked under the Nyanya bridge was laced with bombs and exploded. According to a source, the effect of the explosion was heard at adjourning areas of AY, Asokoro, Nyanya, and Karu. An explosion which caused other nearby buses to explode also affected two fully loaded buses which were burnt down.

The explosions rocked the bridge where Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company garage is located, which is a few kilometres to Abacha Barracks in the Federal Capital Territory.

Falana Gives Interior Minister Abba Moro 7 Days To Refund Applicants’ N700 Million

In a seven-day ultimatum letter written to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Abba Moro by Lagos lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, Mr. Falana has demanded that Abba Moro should refund N700 Million which was collected from job seekers who applied for employment in the Nigerian Immigration Service.

Okada Man Beats His Hungry 2-Year-Old Son To Death Then Buries Him Secretly

 

On Friday, the two-year-old son of a commercial motorcyclist was crying out of hunger and when he noticed that his father was about moving out on his motorcycle, he chased his dad, crying profusely because he was hungry and needed to eat. Out of annoyance, the said motorcyclist dragged his son into the house, hit him several times until he died.

The motorcyclist identified as Oni Mama while trying to bury the remains of his son around their residential area in Fashola Street, Ejigbo, Lagos State, was caught carrying a sack dripping with blood out of the building. Out of curiosity, his neighbours alerted policemen at Ejigbo Police Station.

Strike: YABATECH Lecturers Vow To Shut Down Today

 

We all know that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics have lingered for a long time now and there is no sign of resolution from the Government. Well, inspite of the "no work, no pay" directive, lecturers at the Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH, have vowed to embark on a protest today, April 8.

Chairman of YABATECH Chapter of the Union, Adeyemi Aromolaran said the lukewarm attitude of the government towards their demands was unfair and uncalled for.
Aromolaran said ASUP was not moved by government’s `no work, no pay’ directive, saying it was an old policy, which would not produce any meaningful result.

Mother Of Six Girls Arrested For Buying Baby Boy

50-year-old woman, Anne Soronnade who allegedly bought a day-old baby boy for N600,000 in 2013 has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command through its Anti-kidnapping Squad.

Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulmajid Ali said the suspect bought the baby in February, 2013 from one Mrs. Martina Obioha who hails from Amume Amajie in Isu Local Government Area of the state and runs a maternity home.

 

The mother of the child, one Blessing Ezigbo was said to have been sent out by her parents when they discovered she was pregnant. she later met one Madam Nnenna who accommodated her and took care of her until she was delivered of the baby.

when Ezigbo was delivered of the child, Madam Nnnena requested for N30,000 from her being the charge for taking care of her when she was pregnant.
