Nigerian Stowaway Froze To Death As South African Plane Lands In US Airport

A Nigerian man, Chris Dikeh was found in the wheel well of a South African Airways plane that departed Dakar, Senegal and arrived the Dulles Airport in Washington D.C on Saturday.

The man is believed to have frozen to death in temperatures reaching -60°C. Per Second News gathered from the Police that it was a South African Airways jet that was parked now in a remote part of the airport. Grounds crews found the body on Saturday afternoon.

Airport authorities say the male body was recovered from the landing gear of the Airbus A340 belonging to South African Airways. The flight arrived in Dulles on Wednesday last week.

A Student Survivor Reveals What Boko Haram Did To Them

One of the lucky survivors of the Boko Haram massacre on Tuesday, which claimed the lives of over 40 students in Federal Government College, Bunu Yadi in Yobe State, Ibrahim Musa Lampo, a 14-year-old JSS2 student who was shot but managed to survived, speaks of his escapade and how they were treated by the insurgents:

“I was shot on my left leg, while I was sleeping. When I woke up, I could not walk and was later taken to the girls hostel where the insurgents gathered us with the female students. They selected some of the female students and went away with them, while they left some of us groaning in pain from gun shot”.

The insurgents also burnt the hostels, classrooms and more during the attack.

Parrot Helps Police Nab Murder Suspect In India

Police in Agra, India say that a talking parrot helped them nab the man who killed the bird’s owner, according to the Times of India. 

The body of Neelam Sharma, 45, was found at her home on February 20. Her dog had also been killed, but Hercule, Sharma’s pet parrot, was still alive.

Sharma’s husband, Vijay Sharma, told police that after the murder, he noticed whenever his nephew, Ashutosh, came over, Hercule would go berserk.

Police Arrests Boko Haram Kingpin In Makurdi

A man suspected to be a Boko Haram kingpin on a mission to unleash terror in Benue State has been nabbed by men of the state police command in Makurdi.

 A statement signed on Thursday by the special adviser to Governor Gabriel Suswam on media, Dr Cletus Akwaya, said the suspected terrorist was arrested on Tuesday. It stated that 

“The Boko Haram agent (name withheld), a Fulani, who hails from Taraba State, was arrested by the police at the Kanshio area of Makurdi following a tip-off."  

“The Police Command disclosed that the Boko Haram suspect was found with six blank cheques with the total value said to be in millions of naira. Also found on him were copies of maps of some parts of Benue State especially Makurdi, the state capital." 

“The detailed description of the targets were contained in an exercise book which was found on the suspect. Some of the places included a high-profile hotel in the Nyiman area of Makurdi as well as some major infrastructural facilities central to the economic life of the state capital”, the statement said.It further added that the suspect was whisked away to an undisclosed location where he is being interrogated by security operatives."

Yobe Massacre: Names Of Students That Have Been Confirmed Dead By Boko Haram Gunmen

This is an update of the names of the Federal Government College Buni-Yadi, Yobe State students who were brutally murdered during an attack by Boko Haram gunmen on the in the early hours of Tuesday February 25th. (Read it HERE if u missed it).

President Jonathan’s Social Media Aide Reno Omokri Exposed As Author Of Fake Document Linking Ousted CBN Governor To Boko Haram

Reno Omokri, the outspoken Special Assistant on Social Media to President Goodluck Jonathan, was today unmasked as the brain behind a fraudulent attempt to link Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to the recent spike in Boko Haram violence in Borno and Yobe States. 

In one of the recent attacks, Boko Haram terrorists slaughtered some 60 secondary school students at their boarding house. Posing as “Wendell Simlin,” Mr. Omokri circulated a Word document linking the former CBN Governor to the recent attacks. The ruse was however uncovered when some Internet-savvy Nigerians traced the IP address of the source document and it turned out that it had been authored and circulated by Mr. Omokri. This scandal, the latest in a series of ethical and corruption issues rocking the Jonathan administration, set Twitter on fire today. Outraged Nigerians called for Mr. Omokri's sack. The timing of Mr. Omokri's fraudulent act is particularly insensitive, with many commentators questioning why a member of President Jonathan’s inner circle would seek to capitalize on the blood of slaughtered innocent children by forging documents to implicate a perceived "enemy" of the Jonathan administration. 

Solomon Akiyesi’s Marriage To Lilian Ends

The union between Solomon Akiyesi and Lillian, his second wife, has reportedly been dissolved. It was said that the bride price paid by the actor to his in-laws were returned to him some days ago in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

Recall that Solomon was in the news in 2013 when he attempted to marry a lady, Uloma, in Lagos, but bubble burst after Lillian, who was in Port Harcourt, got wind of the move, and stormed Lagos to disrupt the wedding ceremony.

Reports now have it that Solomon was recently summoned by his father-in-law to Port Harcourt, but unknown to him, the old man called him to refund the money he (Solomon) paid to marry his wife, Lillian.

Jim Iyke Reportedly In Coma After Car Accident

Media reports from Ghana suggests that Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke was involved in a ghastly car crash last Saturday. He reportedly went into coma after the unfortunate incident, but he is said to be in a stable condition now.

The accident was reported to have occurred around Kanda Highway in Accra on his way to the location of a new movie. 
It was further reported that Jim Iyke was admitted at the Nyaho Medical Centre in Accra, Ghana, where his rumoured girlfriend, Nadia Buari has been looking after him.

To worsen it, the young man among them has a recurring mental illness, and each time it happens, accusing fingers are pointed at me as the cause of his problem; for causing irritation in the home when I am actually reacting to their suppression in my home. They often hold meetings on how to deal with me.

16 Year-Old School Girl Hacked To Death By Her Ex-Boyfriend

Pupils from Bishop Okoth Miranga High School mourn their colleague who was hacked to death by her former boyfriend

A 16-year old girl Form Three student of Bishop Okoth Miranga Secondary School was hacked to death  with a machete by her ex-boyfriend who happens to be a Class Eight dropout. It was gathered from witnesses that a quarrel had ensued between suspect and the deceased over a love affair which turned sour. The suspect was said to have monitored the deceased from time to time before he finally pounced on her, cut her in the head with a panga and killed her at Kamolo in Kisumu County while she was on  her way to school in Kenya at about 6 a.m.

The sister of the deceased Ms Emily Akinyi while speaking of the brutal death of her sister said:

“I received a phone call from a man asking me if my sister had left for school. When I told him that she had already gone, he told me to immediately rush to a place called Arina since something tragic had happened.”

Mbu blows hot, gives Abuja vehicle owners 24 hours to obtain tinted glass permit

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Mbu Joseph Mbu, yesterday warned motorists with tinted glass vehicles to obtain the necessary permit or be arrested.

“I want to make this pronouncement now: If you do not have a tinted glass vehicle permit   formally approved by the Inspector-General of Police and you are not permitted to have tinted glass in your vehicle, you have between today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) to remove it,” he said.

“No vehicle will ply the streets or the highways within Abuja without an identification mark. 

“That is to say, there must be FRSC-approved number plate affixed to your vehicle.

“We are going to enforce this law as from Wednesday this week. Whatever your position is in the society,I am appealing to you to respect the law.” 

Police Sergeant Sentenced To Death By Hanging Over N100 Bribe

A State High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced a police sergeant to death and two others to life imprisonment for struggling with a commercial bus driver over a N100 gratification thus leading to the death of two civilians.

Justice Biobele Georgewill, whilst delivering the judgment yesterday, said the policemen conspired to murder the victims, Chinyeaka Kamalu and Ugochukwu Harcourt, on January 17, 2010.

SUN reports:

Justice Georgewill in his judgement pronounced death sentence by hanging on Sergeant Clement Indyel, while Sergeant Ali Bello and PC Auwalu Kwale respectively, were sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to him, the convicted policemen, who were serving under the state police command, were charged for felony, murder and conspiracy by the state, for the murder of the victims, who were among the passengers attacked by the three officers over N100 bribe.

Man, 25, murders 56-year-old father in Sokoto

The Police in Sokoto State on Tuesday confirmed the murder of a 56-year-old man, Mallami Aliyu, by his 25-year-old son on Sunday.

The Spokesman of the Police Command in the state, DSP El-Mustapha Sani, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Sokoto. Sani said that the incident happened about 2a.m on Sunday. 

“The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the Kofar Marke area of Sokoto city in Sokoto North Local Government Area. “The 25-year-old allegedly killed and buried his 56-year-old father, Mallami Aliyu,’’ he said.

BBM Headed To Nokia Devices

Today at its Mobile World Congress event, Nokia announced that BlackBerry Messenger will be released in the “coming months” for its Windows Phone devices.

At first, BBM will be exclusive to Nokia’s Lumia devices but will likely be released for all Windows Phone devices after the first six months, just like previous Lumia exclusives.

If Nokia were to pre-install BBM on its Lumia devices it could be a powerful driver of new users to BlackBerry’s messaging service, which the company desperately needs as it struggles to compete with other messaging services such as Line and Whatsapp.

CNN is pulling the plug on “Piers Morgan Live” after just three years in a key primetime slot. The program, hosted by former newspaper editor Piers Morgan, had struggled to gain traction at the 9 p.m. hour, and was routinely beaten in the ratings by cable competitors.

Boko Haram kills 29 male secondary school students in FGC Yobe.

29 secondary school students of Federal Government College, Buni, Yadi in Yobe State have been reported dead. They were killed by Boko Haram insurgents who invaded the school and killed 29 male students, leaving mo female touched.

Yobe State police commissioner Sanusi Rufai confirmed that the figure saying that the attackers came last night and killed 29 students and burnt down 24 staff quarters including the administrative block of the college. “Some of the students were burnt to ashes by the insurgents. From the information I got, no female students was killed by the Boko Haram. Only male students were killed”, CP Rufai inform.

Crappy Network: NCC Fines MTN, Airtel, Glo N647m; Bars Them From Selling SIM Cards

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has imposed fines totalling N647,500,000 million on three of the four global system for mobile (GSM) communication service providers in the country. 

The affected operators are Airtel, Globacom and MTN. They are being sanctioned for failing to meet the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality of service in the month of January this year. 

Consequently, the three companies have been barred from further sale of subscriber identity module (SIM) cards with effect from next month. They are also barred from all promotions on their networks until they improve on the failed KPIs for which they are sanctioned.  

According to a statement, the details of the sanction showed that Airtel Network Ltd, and MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd, are to pay a fine of N185 million each while Globacom Ltd is to pay N277,500. In addition, each of the operators must pay the sanction amount on or before March 7 failure upon which each will be liable to pay N2,500,000 per day as long as the contravention persists.

Mother burns 11-yr-old daughter’s buttocks with hot knife!

A middle  aged woman, Ene Edem Okon, has been arrested by the police for allegedly inflicting bodily harm and tying her 11-year-old daughter, Queeneth Ene Edem, hands and legs for being wayward. She was arrested when Queeneth appeared in her school, Government Primary School, Akim, with multiple wounds on her chest, stomach and buttocks prompting the school authorities to report the matter to the police at the Akim Police Station.

Kevin Luciano’s label sues KCEE for N20m

KCEE and Harrysong have formed a mutually-beneficial partnership

QuestionMark Entertainment boss, Kelvin Luciano, has filed a N20m suit against KCEE’s Five Star Music.  

The suit was filed against singer Harrysong for allegedly evading his contract with QuestionMark, and against Five Star Music for entering into a new contract with Harry Song despite knowing that he was yet to serve out his contract with his former label. 

According to a statement signed by Luciano, "QuestionMark Entertainment was into separate exclusive music recording, artist management and music publishing contracts with HarrySong in 2009. The obligations of parties to the said contracts have neither lapsed nor have they been fulfilled."

Doctor advises men on prostate cancer prevention

A medical practitioner, Dr Gafar Akinsanya, on Monday in Abeokuta advised men who are above 40 years of age to abstain from diets which are rich in animal fat.

The doctor, a staff of the Federal Medical Centre at Idi-Aba in Abeokuta said abstinence would help to reduce the risk of Prostate cancer.

He said prostate cancer was a common cause of death among elderly men. “The prostate is a small, walnut-sized structure that makes up part of a man’s reproductive system,” Akinsanya said.
