He began his studies in science and technology with the Open University in 1971 when he was aged just 22. Over the next four decades he juggled his degree with running a business, writing a novel and looking after three children  and later four grandchildren.

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos  State  has dissolved the marriage between Azeezat Ayinde and her husband, Mohammed, who allegedly infected his wife with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). 

The  judge, Mr R.I. Adeyeri, held that "since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve  it.". Adeyeri said that the couple could no longer stay together because the marriage had broken down totally.

Angry father throws daughter from 3-storey building in Lagos

A certain Mr. Deji Kamoru, has been arrested for throwing his 14-year old daughter, Aishat, from the third floor of their house at Oroyinyin Street, Lagos Island.

Aishat who landed on the ground and hit her head against a metal object has since been rushed to the General hospital on the island.

Defending his action, Mr. Kamoru – a driver and security guard – claimed he caught the girl with her boyfriend in his bedroom.

The police at Adeniji Adele Division arrested Kamoru but later released him on bail so he could take care of the victim and pay her medical bill.

Confirming the incident, the DPO of  Adeniji Adele Division, Monday Agbonika said the most important thing for now was to save girl’s life.  Aisha is currently in an intensive care unit and can hardly talk or recognise anybody at the moment.

‘School uncle’ sexually assaults 3-year-old girl in Rivers

A man in Rivers has been arrested after reports that he molested a a three- year old nursery school student.
Obioma Benson was apprehended by the police in Port Harcourt, the state capital, for allegedly inserting his finger into the little girl’s vagina.

The unidentified child suffered injuries which were discovered by her mother and she fingered Benson, her “school uncle” for the crime.

A group of soldiers in the Central African Republic lynched a man they suspected was a rebel minutes after hearing the new president's promise to restore security at a ceremony to reinstate the divided country's armed forces.

About 20 uniformed soldiers accused a member of the crowd of having belonged to Seleka - the mostly Muslim rebel group that seized power in a coup last March, before stabbing him repeatedly until he was dead.

A soldier stamped on the lifeless body, which was then dragged nearly naked through the streets as residents looked on and took photographs.

Town of Beloit Police Chief Steven Kopp says the nearly week-old Kayden Powell was discovered by the police chief of West Branch, Iowa, checking along Interstate 80 at around 10.15am Friday.

FBI acting special agent G.B. Jones said at a news conference the chief heard the infant crying and discovered the child swaddled in blankets and placed in a tote bag outside a gas station.

2 Women Jailed For Child Trafficking & Causing Kids To Beg With Fake Wounds

Two women have been jailed by Court 1 in Yaba Magistracy for trafficking and using children to beg for alms in Victoria Island area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria. 

The women, Amarachi Eke from Imo State and Chioma Eze from Awka in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, were arraigned at the court on Wednesday on a two-count charge of using underaged children to beg for alms. And they pleaded guilty to the charges.

Man Threatens To Commit Suicide On Valentine’s Day

   

Dennis Amayo, A 57-year-old father has threatened to commit suicide on Valentine’s Day (14 February) should Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State fail to pay his eight-month pension arrears.

Amayo who is demanding for the payment of his pension arrears is in dire need of the money to go about the preparation of the burial of his father whom he says is in the mortuary. “I am my father’s first born. It will be immoral of me to task my younger ones to bring money for his burial while I cannot bring anything for the burial,” he stated.

Nigerians in UK prisons don’t want to go home, says envoy

The Prisoner Transfer Agreement between Nigeria and British governments which was signed in December 2013 to enable Nigerian prisoners in the UK return home to complete their terms has been condemned by some Nigerians serving various jail terms in the UK as a result of poor prison facilities and stigma amongst others. The agreement which has been signed is yet to be ratified by parliaments of the two countries.

In an interview with the Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),  Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK (Dr Dalhatu Tafida), on Tuesday in London confirmed this. Tafida said that some of the prisoners have expressed concern over returning to the country to complete their terms, citing poor prison facilities and stigma as main reasons.
