Jealousy: A Woman Sets Family Ablaze

Efua Badu, in police custody, suspected to have set the house ablaze, leading to the death of a family of three

Ghana: Efua Badu who lost her husband to another woman was arrested for allegedly setting her husband; Peter Amos Asobayire, 35,  his new lover; Felicity Asobayire, 25 and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter;  Sarah Asobayire on fire.  A fire which burnt them beyond recognition.

It was gathered that the suspect, Efua Badu, 33, popularly known as Saman Kwenim was reported to have set fire to a can of kerosene and threw it through the window of the uncompleted building which the family lived in at  Dome CFC at about 2 a.m. Monday.

Now, here is what led to this:

The suspect; Efua Badu is a chop bar operator who was married to Asobayire (the deceased) for seven years, during which period they had two children; a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl.  Asobayire recently informed Badu that he was no longer interested in the marriage and sacked Badu, then brought in his new wife, Felicity.
As a result of the incident, Efua decided to burn down everything in the house to teach the man a lesson. She claimed that she did not know anyone was in the room so she set a can of kerosene ablaze and threw it into the room. Only when she heard screams from the room, she took to her heels.
